Problem with 07 SRX 2wd, V8. When backing up straight and then turning wheel a rubbing noise occurs from the rear end while turning. This is a random
occurance. I have also at times had it occur while going forward while turning the vehicle at slow speeds. No problem while going straight ahead . Because this is a random event I expect the Usual " sorry can't duplicate" response from the dealer. Any ideas from the members of what could be happening?
I had a similar problem with my AWD Northstar. The noise always occurred as I backed out of my driveway first thing each morning. The problem disappeared
after driving a few miles. The local dealer us unable to duplicate the noise even when the car was left over night.
Since the problem appeared after the first start and disappeared after driving a while, I surmised that the problem had to be one of lubrication. I remembered a Corvette that I owned that had a similar problem that was caused by bad positraction additive installed in the differential at the factory. New differential oil and a proper positraction additive solved the problem.
It was worth a shot, so I visited the local Jiffy Lube and made a switch to Pennzoil gear oil and positraction additive (meets GM specs). I cut a few figure eights in the parking lot to work in the new lube and a drove few miles down the road. The next morning there was only slight noise and in several days it was completely gone.
I don't know if this is your problem, but it might be worth a try.

I have the same issue with my 07 V8 Sport. I thought it might be something to do with the 20" wheels, but you said you have 2wd. I had my dealer check it and they gave the same "we didn't hear anything" response. I also think it might be something in the AWD, but again maybe not because you state you hear it with 2wd.
