Hello - I posted somthing in the new members introduction thread - but i decided to try posting my questions here.

I will be a owner of a USED 05 Cadillac SRX in Pearl White with the 3rd Seat, Panoramic Sunroof, Beige Interior, V6 I believe, Dealer is in the process of getting it all detailed up and will likely get it in a few days - Sadly no Navigation. Any idea if it would have HID's or i would need to install one myself?

I do not have any more details on this SRX but all I know its what i listed as above.

* I have a few questions to ask:

- Was Wondering if the 05's come with a power liftgate? If so, is it on the remote?, also is there a button to close the door, i remember seeing the 06-07s have this feature or newer.

- Not sure if this includes the HID Package - or im likely have to purchase my own and install it myself - Ive installed HID's before so it should be a easy process for me unless the headlights is difficult to access.

- Im likely going to purchase the navigation unit and have it installed on this SRX or im better off with an Aftermarket Unit.

- lastly - does this SRX have a feature where i can monitor my gas mileage and many more - im assuming that the RADIO has this feature?

- And Another: is there an online owners manual that i can look thru the car specs and info just to get to know about this srx

Thanks All, Looking forward to enjoying the site and the ride.

Did you research or even see the car you are buying?

No power liftgate
Installing the factory nav is possible but if you get it done for you not worth it.
Don't get me started on HIDs ;)

Yep, Saw the car - Just didnt know anything about the specs. I thought the 2005 would come with the power liftgate with a button on the remote. Oh Well.

HID's is a must for me - I have HIDs on my 07 Mercedes Benz and would like to get one installed on the caddy.

>>No power lift gate on 2005<<

>>Why HID?? Reasonably expensive toy unless you travel in Death Valley (or Everglades??) at night <<

- Im likely going to purchase the navigation unit and have it installed on this SRX or im better off with an Aftermarket Unit.
>> Would guess that OEM Nav is $$$$$. Suggest you check on aftermkt GPS (with the bean-bag dash-top mounting) & keep the standard info center features (assuming that you have the factory radio system); yes 2005 w/o Nav has: outside temp, trip A, trip B, Inst mileage, Avg mileage, timer, fuel used, tire pressure 1,2,3,4, & indiv feature reset independent of radio controls vs Nav integrated controls operation <<

- lastly - does this SRX have a feature where i can monitor my gas mileage and many more - im assuming that the RADIO has this feature?

I finally picked up the srx today and its looking nice. But thanks for the few who answered my questions. Ill have some pics up asap.

Now I need to get started with the HID setup, i have the ballast and hid (aftermarket ones) already here but im thinking about going with the whole hid setup that i may be able to find on ebay or thru a junkyard.

Welcome to the forum, there is a lot of good information on here.

I have an 05 SRX in Redline, it is a great car, I love it.

The power lift gate came to the SRX in 2006.

Hid was an option in 05 on the V6 (this is what I have) , I believe it was standard on the V8's. Hid is low beams and if you have it the fuse box under the hood has the HID relays in it. You can also just look at the lights. The ballasts are on the bottom of the headlight assemblies.

I do not have NAV and cannot comment on this.

The DIC provides all the fuel mileage information you are looking for.

On Cadillac.com you can register your vehicle by VIN # under the owners center, this gives you recall info, onstar stuff and you can download the manuals for the car.

Welcome aboard and enjoy the ride. It is sweet.

Thanks for answering my question on the hids setup -ill have to check on the fuses for the relay or anything that you mentioned, id love to get a set of these but my main concern is, how hard would this be to swap out the headlights with a factory ready hid that i can probably find from a junkyard or on ebay and put it on the srx, i can imagine itll be alot of work. I do alot of night driving and I would like to have these installed on the srx for the luxury nighttime look.

I owned 05 SRX AWD and I strongly recomment you that you should buy a Powertrain extended warranty for the car.
Srx is a luxury car that not always durable and some of Its many issues sometimes could not be identified by the dealer
I believed you have 1 month warranty so take advanced with it by quickly testing the car throughly on the entire of the car, highly focus on most common issues :
1-The sunroof ( not always closed and leaking water onto rear seats, also rattles if opened when running on rough road )
2- Burning engine oil like crazy ( upto 1 quart per 1000 mi ) Dealer couldn' t explain
3-Bad Mileage ( 13-15 mpg V6)
4-Water get inside the Jack compartment
I got my car on May, 75Kmi running like a charm but not long, 2000 mi after that now the car has a timing chain stretched out I have to pay the dealer $125 just to get the diagnostic result and an extra $1,995 estimated replacement cost
I was very upset but luckily the service adviser had help me talk to the GM rep. and they agreed to take care of the Timing change but I must pay the dealer $500 that is so-called Deductible
So if you like the car, you better purchase an Extended warranty, it worth for your money
