..from a dead stop or light acceleration?
Location:Rear end
2006 SRX 2wd V6
85,000 miles
Bought from a single owner Jan.2007 w/approx.20,000 miles
I started hearing a bump or clunk coming from the diff area of the vehicle a week or so ago.I got underneath the car in my driveway and I got a friend to put it in reverse and then stop and then to drive, moving forward just a few inches. When the SRX differential is put under the intial load of forward movement, the front off the diff will rise. There's a rubber bushing located on the passenger side on the SRX differential that is in place to absorb the load. The bushing is completely worn on mine.Very little rubber left and the bolt that runs through the center of the bushing just kinda goes "BAP" under a load.heh...I wonder what my local dealer will tell me what the issue truly is or try to tell me the differential is needing replacement.Instead of a simple bushing.

I always take the vehicle in for service i.e.oil changes.

Cadillac has taken care of all the service issues except one.
I changed my own brakes about 3000 miles ago.Pfft.Piece of cake front and rear.

Anyone know what that bushing is called?I'll just replace it myself instead of testing the honesty of my dealer.

Didn't we just have 2 threads on this?

I searched but couldn't find anything with the words I used to search.I stumbled across one thread that had to do with this, but it never came to the answer the OP was looking for.

I remember one where the poster never figured out what was wrong, then someone started another thread linked to photobucket or something that showed a step-by-step how to on changing a bushing. I don't know if it was the same one you are replacing, but the procedure looked very difficult (a "special tool" was supposedly needed to push the old bushing out). I'm sure you can do it, it will just betime consuming! Have fun!
