Just bought a navigation unit from a 2003 deville. Putting it in my 2000 deville (the 2000 has the old style 3-part navigation system). Right now, Just got some wiring done to the new 2003 unit when the "theft lock activated" came on. Ive been reading how you can program a new vin# in the unit with a tech II to get it to unlock. BUT, the strange thing is I plugged the unit i have into my friends 2003 deville (equipped with the nav) and it JUST TURNED ON WITH NO PROBLEMS, even thought I been reading that the unit will only work for the car's vin it was programed for....I don't get it?

After I get this thing unlocked, can anyone tell me some of the problems Im going to run into? Primarily worried about the class 2 communications. For instance, I know the computer in my 2000 has seperate DTC's based for the "NDH" (Navigation Head Display) and the "NAV" (Navigation module in the trunk). Im not worried about the steering wheel controls or the voice command stuff, even though I believe i got the same Bose amp (RPO U57) in my 2000 as the 2003 the navi came out of. I just want to know if the thing will work at all? Id like to know what im jumping into before I start ripping and re-running wires and destroying harnesses before I make a permanent installation.
