I am taking delivery of a V-6 2005 SRX next week. Due to the packages and how they are priced, to get a DVD player I would have had to order the Luxury Performance Package ($13K MSRP).

Has anyone put in an after market system DVD at the dealer? Any advice on whether I should go with the screens in the headrests or the all in one system on the ceiling?

Thanks

It really depends on 'your' passemngers:
a. In the head rests - the set up could allow for a dvd to be playing, while the other monitor has a video game being played.

b. A bigger monitor, more than 7", would be possible.

And how much $$ you want to spend.

I'm leaning toward the dual monitor/headrest set-up. But, for now I just bought a portable unit & velcroed it onto the center console, got the wireless headsets, the kids are quiet. :shhh:

Do a search for "headrest screens". Someone has already installed the monitors in the headrests but he had the factory DVD system. You can't fit 7" monitors in the hearests though.

An aftermarket DVD system is possible in an SRX. It has the same headrest post spacing as an Escalade. So if you get a complete headrest system (headrest already assembled..not a loose screen), they will drop right in. The Shale interior color in an Escalade is real close to the neutral color in an srx (same w/pewter). Good luck finding a spot to mount the dvd player (not much room under the seats).
As far as the roof mount- it can be done, but a quality job is tough. There is no roof supports to mount it to, due to the ultraview sunroof option.
