The Universal Home Remote in my 2006 DTS has stopped working. I attempted to reprogram it to no avail. The indicator light never comes on. I can't find any reference to a fuse for the remote in the owners manual or inside the fuse case. Any suggestions before I bring it back to the dealer?

Thanks
Jim

If it is under warranty, let the dealer handle it. Othewise, check to insure that the built-in garage door opener has power. If it does, replace it. If it doesn't, check for a loose connector. I can't speak for a 2006 model since my wife's car is a 2008, but the garage door opener on her car gets its power from fuse 43 (MDLS-Body) on the underhood fuse block. However a lot of other things get power from that same fuse, so unless there are other failures, I doubt that the fuse is blown. Check it anyway. Last possibility is a wiring failure.

I found the problem when the trunk would not open! The valet switch was inadvertently on. It disables both the trunk and remote universal. The info was under the valet switch section of the manual. Thanks for the fuse info.

I didn't even know there was a valet switch................

Something else i still don't know about are all those steering wheel switches on the right .............in front of the volume controls.........

Yes, according to the schematic activation of the valet feature will disable the garage door opener (the reason for that is obvious). Now, my car, a 2009 CTS-V (and I think the 2004-2007 CTS-V series), has no valet feature. So, it is something that I do not have to worry about.
