Have a great 2003 Seville except for the Blower Motor. Have replaced the blower motor 6 times and the control module 2 times under warranty. Motor 5 died on Friday 8-21-09 was replaced, by dealer, with new module. This one died Sunday 8-23-09. Same MO get a bad plastic burning smell, 5 min later no fan. I have harped to the dealer it has to be a ground problem but each time they say no, good ground continuity. Warranty now expired and these motors are being replaced under 12mo-12k part warranty. Any help really appreciated.:worship:

This is sort of left field, but is there any chance the blower squirrelcage is hanging up in the case, thus causing a stall/overheat condition in the motor ? It doesn't take long for a DC motor to overheat and burn up when it's stalled......Just a thought.......but there would be some scraping noises, too....

Use the diagram if you want to trace the circuit(s), especially the ground connectors.

Check the plug that connects to the blower. My grandma had her blower motor replaced and it quit working within a few months. Turns out the plug was extremely corroded. I guess it scratched just enough of the corrosion off when it was replaced to get it working for awhile, but then it re-corroded to the point where it stopped again. Turns out she didnt even need the new blower motor.

Submariner409 and osu411yamaha thanks for the input. Seams the dealership is very concerned also, they say this many blowers looks real bad on thier reputation. They had two techs work the car over under "special extended" warranty. They clean every ground starting with the battery to every connection which services or relates to the blower motor. They claim to have found nothing definative but interestingly enough the blower runs much faster now and tires hitting a speed bump do not effect or stumble the blower speed as before. All the on board computer stuff is great but it is really only a starting point, you need smart thinkers to really pin down the problem. Thanks guys.
