Sonic drinks have the best ice. :) orconn 08-22-09, 06:15 PM "Best Ice" that's saying alot! thebigjimsho 08-22-09, 06:17 PM And you can order a tasty burger with the push of a button and just swipe your card to pay. The fattening of America just got fatter! And I love it! thebigjimsho 08-22-09, 06:19 PM But the Northeast just has the Big 3 with Wendy's McD's and BK. There are the second tier regulars like Taco Smell and KFC but we didn't have any chains that were not national. Five Guys just started infiltrating the Northeast as is Sonic now. We did have a couple El Pollo Locos for a short time but they didn't catch on... orconn 08-22-09, 06:34 PM If they were as good as the original "Pollo Locos" in L.A., I wish the El Pollo Locos would come to Richmond very soon. We could really use a Boston Market nearby too! RightTurn 08-22-09, 09:04 PM Sonic... :ack: ga_etc 08-23-09, 02:36 AM 5 Guys isn't bad food. When we got one here in Dalton I decided to try it for lunch one day. How in the hell anyone can justify $10 for a cheeseburger, fries you can wring the oil out of, and a medium drink is beyond me. As far as Sonic goes, it's good to have around as something different. Their grilled chicken sandwich is good. MrEldo97 08-23-09, 12:22 PM It's all crap. High in fat and salt. Is it any wonder everyone weighs 300 pounds... I~LUV~Caddys8792 08-23-09, 12:33 PM Five Guys has been in the Twin Cities for 4 months now and everytime I go there I'm impressed. The burgers are of a higher quality than any fast food joint in Five Guys' price range (it's more like Ruby Tuesdays' quality, but without the well prepped appearance and high price). Still though, it's a very good burger for $8.xx and the service is fast and there are no waitresses to tip. Sounds like what I'm having for lunch today actually... Now as far as Sonic goes, when they first opened their location near me, I went a couple times and was thoroughly impressed, then I went back and 3rd and 4th time and got the same thing and it wasn't nearly as good, and I even got the same thing as before (Chicken Bacon Club Toaster)...it was greasy, the cheese was runny, and still, the sandwich was cold. I don't know why their quality dropped so much, but it was disappointing to say the least because their menu offered a good selection and a nice change from your usual fast food joint. I never went back after the 4th time.... dirt_cheap_fleetwood 08-23-09, 07:22 PM We got our first Sonic in the Chicago area about a year ago. Its out in Aurora but on opening day there was a line almost 1/2 a mile long of people waiting to get in. Rodya234 08-23-09, 08:08 PM Sonic won't get my business until they open a place close to my house. The nearest one is 40 miles from where I live, but they still show their commercials on my tv. Bastards. dirt_cheap_fleetwood 08-23-09, 08:35 PM Rodya, before the one in Aurora opened the nearest one was in Springfield. Even then they still showed the commercials in my area. thebigjimsho 08-23-09, 09:10 PM Before this one was set to open in Peabody, the closest was in Eastern PA or Southern Jersey. I ALMOST decided to drive to Jersey just for a dinner at Sonic on a bored Saturday evening, but I didn't. Went to a drive-in in central NH. Quaint, but not really special... ga_etc 08-24-09, 06:09 AM WOW. For Dalton to be a small town how do we have stuff that has taken everyone else so long to get? I'm going to see if I can remember all of the stuff we have in town. 3 Sonics, 4 McDonalds (if you count the one in one of the Walmarts), 2 Burger Kings, 2 Zaxbys, 3 Taco Bells, 2 Arbys, 2 KFCs, 2 Long John Silvers, 3 Checkers, 3 Wendys, 2 Hardees, Chilis, Outback, Logans, Longhorn, Red Lobster, O'Charly's, Applebees, 2 Chick-Fil-As (one in the mall), Ryans, 4 Waffle Houses, Schlotsky's, Quiznoes, Moe Southwest Grill, Papa John's, 2 Dominos, 2 Pizza Huts, 3 Starbucks, CiCi's Pizza, Blimpie, 2 or 3 Subways, Western Sizzlin (steakhouse), Dairy Queen, and countless local places ranging from Chinese to Mexican to BBQ. God only knows what other places aren't coming to mind right off. ga_etc 08-24-09, 06:13 AM Somehow forgot 5 Guys, Bojangles, and 2 Shoneys. RightTurn 08-24-09, 12:31 PM Gourmet heaven. :coffee: dirt_cheap_fleetwood 08-24-09, 05:19 PM Gene and Jude's Hot Dogs dominates everything. DILLIGAF 08-24-09, 06:32 PM 99 cent Route 44 cherry limeaids 1pm to 4pm in this town,FTW.My boss would be very pissed if he added up the hours we sit at sonic. Jesda 08-24-09, 06:37 PM I go to Sonic for drinks, and only drinks. The Cherry-Lime Slush makes my day, especially 44oz for a buck. gary88 08-24-09, 07:48 PM A five guys just opened up in Lincoln Park. The fries are probably the best I've ever had, but for cheeseburgers I still prefer the Billy Goat Tavern. inurok 08-24-09, 08:15 PM I always wanted to try sonic but all my friends says it sucks so I never have gone yet? thebigjimsho 08-24-09, 09:00 PM 34 hours...and counting... thebigjimsho 08-26-09, 01:17 AM Less than 10 hours... :woot: RightTurn 08-26-09, 02:20 AM I always wanted to try sonic but all my friends says it sucks so I never have gone yet? Your friends are correct, sir. thebigjimsho 08-26-09, 12:47 PM Your friends are correct, sir. Hey Sexy, you're hot and all, but let the fast food experts take care of this, ummkay? thebigjimsho 08-26-09, 02:09 PM So I have been unable to get up there yet today. However, my brother tried. About a half mile backup even with the police directing traffic. Oh boy... RightTurn 08-26-09, 10:27 PM I'll email you a coney with tater tots. :coffee: :ack: thebigjimsho 08-26-09, 10:56 PM Met up with my brother and carpooled to Sonic this evening. We sat in line to enter the place for over 45 minutes. You could either walk up, take the drive-thru or go to a stall. We wanted the stall for the full Sonic effect. We had our food and was finishing by the time the people next to us got to order at the drive-thru. Twas awesome... Cream_Devil_91 08-30-09, 01:55 AM Sonics must be most prominent in the South, because they are everywhere here and I mean everywhere, and have been for as long as I can remember... The popcorn chicken has gotten me the most lately, and their coney's are also a good choice but can get messy in a hurry! RightTurn 08-30-09, 02:01 AM :ack: thebigjimsho 08-30-09, 02:51 AM You've never had Sonic, Arties! Rolex 08-30-09, 12:51 PM :ack: You've never had Sonic, Arties! Based on the ack smiley I'm guessing she has. I used to love their Frito chili pies when I was a kid. Now I don't eat at fast food chains much anymore (occasionally chick fil a) but I distinctly recall that the sandwich wrappers at Sonic, irrespective of which sandwich you get, is covered in a layer of grease. If you're going to eat at Sonic you'd better bring along some hand wipes or waterless hand cleaner to you don't slip off the steering wheel on your drive home. ;) RightTurn 08-30-09, 02:38 PM You've never had Sonic, Arties! Au contraire. But now I know better. :ack: thebigjimsho 08-30-09, 10:18 PM My Texas Toast burger and tots were quite delish and greaseless. The mozzarella sticks were about as good as anywhere else and you can not get Mello Yellow at any restaurant within 500 miles of New England, nevermind one infused with green apple flavoring! :shiver: And my dessert was equally happifying... nickc50310 08-31-09, 04:05 PM Im with Chad on this one. When Sonic first came to Des Moines in 2000, it was STELLAR food. EVERYTHING was good. As the years went on, it gradually got worse and worse until it was nasty and unedible. The final straw for me was, I went one day and got breakfast in the afternoon. The sausage had obviously been fried in hamburger grease and was the nastiest thing I have ever tasted! We had about six Sonics here at one point and now only one remains. AS I HAVE SAID 100000000000000 TIMES- FIVE GUYS FTMFW! I cant wait until we get five guys here! We have a smash burger opening next week, they are big in Colorado I guess. Anyone ever had a smash burger? orconn 08-31-09, 04:33 PM Never heard of "smash burger" and with a name like that I am pretty sure I wouldn't be tempted to taste one either! thebigjimsho 08-31-09, 04:54 PM Im with Chad on this one. I hate you. :highfive::thumbsup::) thebigjimsho 09-01-09, 06:21 PM Almost one full week later and the line into Sonic was as long as opening day. Today, I wasn't waiting an hour to get a slush or dessert... orconn 09-01-09, 08:52 PM Doesn't say much for the taste of the Northeast fast foody! But then those from the Beantown environs may be easily pleased or "happyfied" as it were. I~LUV~Caddys8792 09-01-09, 10:50 PM I had 5 Guys for dinner. thebigjimsho 09-01-09, 10:57 PM I had 5 Guys for dinner. Is that another Peter North reference?
