My dad recently retired and sold their home in southeast AR, and moved to their retirement home outside Mt Home, AR. They have 5 acres just off the upper White River. The upper White was ranked #2 in the nation for trout fishing this year. The area is full of natural beauty and wildlife, lots of lakes and rivers for fishing, I love it. There are tons of deer, elk, turkey, etc with great hunting.

Anyway all the people that live on their mountain have feeders they fill with corn to attract deer and turkey. Every morning and evening it's not unusual to have a dozen deer wander into my folks yard to feed. Most people have a game camera on their feeder to take pics of the wildlife. Look at what's been visiting the past two weeks:

This is a DEMON bear....look at that left eye!

They reported this guy to the AR Game and Fish. Black bear usually avoid people, but they can be a little testy when when they have cubs in tow, or if they feel cornered. After 2 weeks of catching this guy on camera all over their mountain they relocated the bear:

Stuttgart, AR is known for it's world class duck hunting. This is from Southeast Arkansas farm country. This fella found this in his front yard:

A 5' rattle snake would make a snack out of that terrier in the pic

Amen! We have bear in northern Michigan, but only one type of rare and slow rattlesnake.

I have never seen a bear or rattle snake. I'd like to keep it that way.

I watched a small black bear walk around my deer stand once several years ago. I stayed quiet until he stood up on his hind feet and put a front paw up on the ladder to my deer stand. I don't think he had any idea I was in the stand when I stood up and screamed bloody murder at him. He turned a back flip getting off my ladder and ran about 75 yards before he slowed down and turned around to see what spooked him.

I was watching some show on grizzly bears and the d00d said that most of the time a bear gets close he doesn't know it and standing and presenting yourself scares them off...

Yeah, Virginia is now experiencing a "bear" sighting bonanza this Summer. The copperheads are being found all over and especially in suburban yards. The evening news has been warning about copperheads all Summer. As for deer they are everywhere! Virginia took on the deer and the deer won! The no nothing animal lovers have made it so difficult to deal with the deer problem that they have over run even highly populated suburban areas, not only destroying landscaping but causing serious injury and death in automoibile accidents. Great Falls, VA just outside D.C. has to be the Road Kill" capital of the state, if not the country!
