The whole 'production date' thread got me to wondering WHERE the Broughams were built. I've always heard that Cadillac had its own factory somewhere in Illinois or Indiana, but I've never been able to find anything out about it. There's nothing on Google that tells me where my Brougham was built. Were there any Canadian plants?

Pre 1988- (Fleetwood) Broughams were build at both the Clark Street and Arlington Assembly Cadillac factories.
Post 1988- Clark Street was closed and the production of the RWD Brougham was moved solely to Arlington Assembly.

In case you're still trying to find it on google, Clark Street was officially called Detroit Assembly (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detroit_Assembly). The 11th digit of the VIN will be a 9 for Cadillacs built at Detroit Cadillac.
The 11th VIN digit for Cadillacs built at Arlington Assembly (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arlington_Assembly) is R.
