View Full Version : Diode at trunk motor

I replaced the pull-down motor for the trunk lid according to the direction of the SM. SM states there is a bad diode in the motor which is causing the 'ajar' telltale to be illuminated when the trunk is closed. The fix is to replace the motor. Replacing the motor did not solve the problem, since there is no diode within motor. (I replaced a perfectly good motor for no good reason) I'm thinking the diode has to be in the switch body that brings power to the motor and also has the latching contacts. I have not been able to confirm this and can't find a replacement switch. Anyone know where this phantom diode resides? I put the schematic up hoping that would help....
Thanks

Since posting this, I've found the info I was looking for. That latching-switch does contain the diode. The switch was used from the '85-'91 model years. It has been discontinued according to my local Dealer who confirmed that with his GM parts distributor. SO, if anyone has that switch, I'm interested. GM#16603372 Thanks

I've found an NOS switch, so I'm good.
