View Full Version : new escalade owner kirks5oh 08-17-09, 11:22 PM guys,
just picked up an '09 loaded black escalade for my wife and 3 kids. only option it didn't have was the 22" wheels, which we're looking to add soon (probably going to go with the OEM optional 22" deep dish 12 spoke wheels), maybe an exhaust, intake, and a few visual mods. nothing serious, as this will be my wife's daily, with 3 kids currently under 2 years old.
i'm into sports cars, and was going to get a new z06 vette this summer, but the wife won out. i have a big blower '04 cobra, a bolt on GTO, and 2 head/cam/intake/full exhaust, fox/style mustangs. here are some pics of the rides, excuse the poor pic of the new truck

vette is coming next year for sure. i like all cars american. the escalade just replaced my wife's '05 explorer, which i plan on driving in the fall/winter here in wisconsin. V-Eight 08-17-09, 11:40 PM I bet the Escalada beats the hell out of the explorer. A new z06 next year.............you lucky guy haha kirks5oh 08-17-09, 11:43 PM yeah, the escalade is incredible. i'm paranoid about my kids getting crap all over the inside of it. 1st thing we got for it was husky floormats Sevillian273 08-17-09, 11:55 PM Where did you get the black 5.0? It looks like an 86..... Seems impossible but I think Ive seen that car before... kirks5oh 08-18-09, 12:32 AM Where did you get the black 5.0? It looks like an 86..... kind of long story, but its an '85. i lived in tampa last year, and then moved last month to wisconsin to start my job. i bought the car last year from my uncle who lives in cleveland ohio. its possible you saw it last year when i was in tampa?? but i hardly ever drive it. dirt_cheap_fleetwood 08-18-09, 01:40 AM Welcome, and nice collection. Come to the Midwest meet if you can, the thing in my signature is a link to the thread about it. RightTurn 08-18-09, 02:23 AM :cowboy: Howdy. It was a shot in the dark lol..... My uncle actually owned an 86 with those exact wheels. It looked IDENTICAL to yours. Its still funny that it was driven in my state!
:welcome: You have some sweet cars man! Boombotz 08-18-09, 10:37 AM Welcome and thanks for signing up. :welcome:
Also take a look at the 09 CTS-V. You may get the wife to agree on that. :D :welcome5: to the forums. wow that charged Mustang looks like a straight up race car!! Gary Wells 08-18-09, 01:39 PM Welcome to the forum, nice caravan, good to see you share with the female folk, and beautiful '04 cobra, and that's coming from a non-ford man. Beautiful cars. kirks5oh 08-18-09, 02:34 PM thanks guys. i would get a CTS-V if i wouldn't have moved to wisconsin--the snow makes it a summer only car. the cobra put down 615hp to the rear wheels with a race tune, but currently is set at 590rwhp. i'm looking to add some stuff for the drag strip, but out of the two times i've had it to the strip, it ran as fast as 11.4 at almost 130mph in the 1/4. should be a 10second ride once i get rid of the independent rear suspension and add some better tires.
thanks again guys
kirk V-Eight 08-18-09, 02:36 PM I thought Mustangs came with a live axle? Or is that just the new ones? kirks5oh 08-18-09, 04:09 PM I thought Mustangs came with a live axle? Or is that just the new ones?
all '03/04 cobras came with an IRS, as well as the '99's if i'm not mistaken. all other mustangs come with a solid rear. the solid rear weighs about 125lbs less, and will allow me to put stickier tires on the car without breaking axle halfshafts. How does it allow you to do that, just because there is less stress or what? kirks5oh 08-18-09, 10:40 PM How does it allow you to do that, just because there is less stress or what?
they are thicker axles, and there's less stress on a straight axle, compared to one from an independent rear they are thicker axles, and there's less stress on a straight axle, compared to one from an independent rear
Lol i know a few mustang owners that would kill to get a Ind rear end over their solid axle setup lol V-Eight 08-18-09, 11:41 PM they are thicker axles, and there's less stress on a straight axle, compared to one from an independent rear
Ah.........makes sense submariner409 08-19-09, 09:43 AM Black '85 - Had the same, except silver-gray with a gray fabric interior. Headliner kept coming loose. Last Holley-carbed 5.0. kirks5oh 08-19-09, 10:45 PM Black '85 - Had the same, except silver-gray with a gray fabric interior. Headliner kept coming loose. Last Holley-carbed 5.0.
yep, that's why i got it. last year for the carbs. both my foxes are t-top cars, which is pretty rare for mustangs--and both have issues with the headliner coming loose--go figure. both are loud as hell, and leave you smelling like gas after driving them--so they don't get a ton of usage. | |
