Has the engine been changed at some point? The 472 wasn't available until the '68 model year. A '65 Calais would have had a 429. It's a completely different engine design.

429cid (1964-1967) firing order......1-8-7-2-6-5-4-3

472cid (1968-1974) and 500cid (1970-1976) firing order ......1-5-6-3-4-2-7-8

It's writen across the back of the intake. all wavy following the contour.

You know he tells me it's a 65 with a 472, but i bet it's a 429, also the timeing mark location on the harmonic balancer? would you happen to know it for the 472 and the 429, also on the firing oder is it left or right side? i'm thinking left looking at engin, but better make sure. once more thank you for the info

if the distributor is on the back of the engine, it's not a 472
