As promised Infiniti gave a “virtual” preview of the upcoming 2011 M today at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Using state-of-the-art 3D video mapping technology, an image of the new M was projected onto a molded styrofoam shape, revealing the third-generation of the sedan that is both sporting and luxurious.

The new design is a big step for the M as it gets design cues from the Essence Concept that was launched at this year’s Geneva Auto Show.

Infiniti is keeping tight-lipped about most of the details, but we do know that both an M37 and M56 model will be offered. The M37 will use the 3.7-liter V6 as found in the current G37 and make roughly 330hp. As for the M56, as the name suggests it will get a 5.6-liter V8 and deliver in excess of 400hp!

One technology highlight of the car is a new blind spot alert system that will not only detect if there is a vehicle in the next lane over, but it will also then help bring the M back into its lane.

Both models will be available starting in the Spring of 2010 as 2011 models in 32 markets around the world.

^ The blind spot system kind of worries me. I don't want a computer to be in any sort of control over my vehicle's movement, ever. Minus the fuel computer of course :)

M56...wow. And I was excited over the thought of an M50.

Hey Cadillac, how much hp will your upcoming STS/DTS replacement put to the rear wheels?

I see alot of Tiburon in there. Very attractive car. It'll do well.

Agreed. I see an influence of the Genesis Coupe in the front end, and the rear end looks like an "asianed" Jaguar XF. (i.e. they stretched the tail lights so they're wider and lower)

Handsome car, it'll do well. Much more original than the Lexus GS and much less gawdawful ugly than the satanic Acura TL.

Thats actually decent HP considering its non-boosted. I wonder if mitsu is developing this engine for them like the others?

That looks amazing, from the front at least. The back is a little too rounded and pinched off for my taste.

Hmmm.

Their 5.0L motor already makes 390 hp. I'd expect 420-440 from the 5.6.

Yes, I too, think it looks a lot like the Jaguar XF ...... only its' better looking. Saying that it looks like an Asian Jaguar is now redundant as Jaguars are now Asian!

well it does say in EXCESS of 400 HP, so it could very well be in the 430 range

Very nice! The warranty on our M45 ends in 2010... a M56 could be the replacement

^ You need to get a better pic off the Mark VIII. I also need to come over and see it. :)
