: Cadillac ATS Rendition

Here's a quick look at what the Cadillac ATS might look like...

The Tony Show
08-14-09, 12:13 PM
Not feeling that.

Besides, this looks like the CTS coupe at the rear, and from what I've heard the ATS roofline will be more like the CTS sedan.

Vinsanity

It actually looks like a solid product, provided that Cadillac devilers on the sport-tuned RWD mechanicals as promised. The ATS is actually Caddy's best hope of staying relevant in the upcoming luxury market, what with the recession and volatile fuel prices.

Looks good to me, but hard to really know from this photo.

If you think about how BMW and Mercedes approach things it makes sense. The BMW 1 series looks like a 3 series and the Mercedes C series look quite similar to the E series. Using the CTS as the new benchmark, I can definitely see the resemblence.

If this car shares similar proportions to the CTS, just smaller, Im in for it. The highest performance version they release.

Any thoughts? I think it looks pretty good... If you don't like it as is, what would you do to improve it? Personally, I think this would look perfect as a larger full-size premium luxury sedan... That's a darn good-looking car.

Pretty nice.. I like it... This could end up looking so much nicer than a 3-Series BMW...

Well. I'm disappointed to find that the ATS looks very little like this rendition...

http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/cadillac-news-concepts-future-models-rumors/179080-cadillac-news-ats-good-looking-cadillac.html

The bottom rensition should be more accurate...

Top or Bottom?

I prefer the top one. The bottom one looks too much like the CTS-V, as much as I like the V, I would be pretty disappointed if every Cadillac started looking like it.

Florian
09-03-09, 03:38 PM
bottom has more realistic lines....

I also prefer the top - the "large egg crate" grille reminiscent of the older Seville grilles. Everybody sticks an aftermarket screen grille in, so all the cars in a part of town then look alike again.

Neither rendition looks good with the cutesy dots (LED's? ) around the headlight assembly. Truly ricer.

The silver emphasizes the body line sculpting, so the top looks a bit more "chiseled".

The Tony Show
09-03-09, 04:03 PM
Top one looks too much like a Camaro, bottom one too much like a CTS. :shifty

They both look good but neither has their own personality. I suppose that's inevitable though, as both the C and E class and 3 and 5 series are nearly indistinguishable from 10 feet to anyone but the most enthusiastic car people. If I had to pick I'd say bottom, since it stays more true to the Cadillac family of design.

Ranger
09-03-09, 04:42 PM
Only difference I can see is the color and the grill. I like that lower screen grill. May have one some day.

Bottom. I like the less "hatchback" look of the back on the bottom one, not really feeling the top grille either.

The bottoms looks WAY too much like the current CTS-V. So, I'd choose the top one.

top-killer grill

TheCaptain
09-06-09, 03:31 PM
The bottom one. It looks "younger" and sportier. And less hatchback-y.

Yep! I definitely wouldn't mind seeing these on the road!

These look awesome. I agree the second rendition below looks closer to what was debuted as a sneak-peak in the GM commercial today.. Should be killer!

Albertan

I like the second version better as well. Although the wheels look like dubs!
Hope it doesn't have lambo doors!

The bottom one looks better, but I think it looks awfully European. The way the body line has that fluid curve reminds me of a Mercedes CLS.

I also prefer the top rendition. Aside from the slight differences tht the colors bring out I don't see any difference from the front facia back. I much prefer the bolder grill of the top one, it also has the advantage of continuity where as the mesh grill really looks aftermarket, the car needs something more distinctive than the mesh grill seeing as the cars body sticks very closely to the current fads in auto design.

The top one as a 7 series sized car could be badass.

Lord Cadillac

Apparently MotorTrend has seen the Cadillac ATS. Some features they described are as follows:

- thick, wedgy, "fast" c-pillar
- large sweeping rectangular headlamps
- wider, thinner grille
- long dash-to-axle relationship (stretched front-end)

Is this the replacement for the XLR? What is the price and engine, intro date, etc....

I will do a search and see!

Thanks for posting it here! I was looking at buying a XLR-V! But depend on what is in the search; I may abandon it or go through with it! I love the fastback design!

I seen the post at GMI and so far the car looks hot. The wheel clearance doesn't seem possible and we'll just see what it will really look like in reality.
But I am looking forward to it and I hope GM/Cadillac will get their organisation back on track in Europe before the launch of the ATS/AT1/new BLS (whatever it really will be)

I like both. In fact, I hope we will see a V-version of the ATS as well.
I do not like the LED christmas tree light head lights ala Audi. Light pipes will suit better.

Bottom one without a doubt.

The ATS V should be one bad @ss ride! Twin turbo 425hp V6? DSG transmission.

Cadillacs got my money.

Can't wait till this hits the streets..

I want one ..

Cool looking drawing and the possibilities with the ATS V series is intriguing..

What motor? LS3 or V6 twin turbo?

Im really hoping for an LS3, or some derivative. Isnt there suppose to be a direct injected LS engine coming soon?

Well, the ATS should be arriving around the same time as the new 3er (give or take a year). The 3 series is supposed to be powered by 4 bangers (except the M, which will get an I-6). Given the approaching CAFE increases, we can probably expect the ATS to (mostly) get 4 cylinder power too. Should be an interesting comparison. Caddy really needs to keep the weight out of the ATS. This is one of the main concerns about the new 3er on the BMW boards given that most of the new BMW models have been longer, wider, heavier the last few cycles.

Turbo 300 hp inline four!

450hp Direct injection V8 V series!

Like the Converj? Hmm....

Remember the quick shot of the ATS in the background of the Ed Whitacre commercial? It didn't look quite as radical as the Converj, but several of the styling cues like the swept back headlights are definitely there.

The ATS's wheelbase should be within an inch of the 3's, and I expect most of the other dimensions to be very close. This thing's going to scream with a smallblock.

Just adding that I think this would make a nice Cadillac ATS. Very similar to the Cadillac CTS Coupe...

I like the new direction Cadillac's styling division has taken. Just a quick question though, does anyone know what happened with the Cadillac Cien? Did it ever make production, and if so, how much was it? I really love that car, and hope one day to see it on the road...

i like the front end of the top one but from the fender back on the second one. combine those two and you got a killer

Maybe you'll see an ATS coming to a spy photograph near you soon? So who knows, maybe you can see the design for yourself.

Harry_Wild
10-26-10, 07:54 PM
Hopefully, the ATS has a nice interior that is rich and comfee. I like to have upscale leather and colors too. They should copy Ferraria color schemes. The are top of the line in looks and finish.

10-29-10, 11:55 AM
I prefer the more chiselled shape of the top pic as it's closer to the current CTS' bolder shape. The '08 CTS looks so much better than the previous model and the STS simply because of it's flared shape. The bottom version does look more like the smoother STS shape and is just a little more boring. I do not like the grill on the top pic though and it does look too camaro-ish. Replace it with the bottom grill or something more contrasting like the current CTS's grill and I think you'd be good to go.

I'm liking that last pic posted of the rear/side view.

They'll never build what it looks like in the rendition because it looks really cool.

Has anyone ever seen a finished, production piece that actually looks like the concept?

GM won't even offer a "Transformers" version of the body from the movie which is what everybody wants.

Although I hope I'm wrong this time . . .

Cheers.

I'm sure that they can't offer the transformers body on the camaro. Most likely the movie studio has exclusive rights to the overall design of it.
