I purchased a 2009 DTS, 1SB option, without the installed Universal Home Remote. Does anyone have any experience with the dealership installing a Remote in their DTS? As I see it, I have three options:
1. Have the dealership install a Universal Home Remote;
2. Transfer the Remote from my 2006 DTS to my new 2009 DTS;
3. Forget options 1 and 2 and use the remote for my garage door.
Any suggestions? Thanks.

1. Have you checked with the dealer to see what it would cost to have one installed in the new car? Wiring for it "MAY' or "MAY NOT" be there.
2. It would probably be as cheap or maybe cheaper to do that than switch the one from the 2006 to the 2009.
3. I would probably be tempted to do as justbob said.
Use the remote for the garage door.

Gents,
Just Bought 2006 DTS. After thinking I was insane an couldnt find the Universal Garage Door Opener, I stumbled here and found out that it isnt standard. That is wacked. After semi retiring my Chrysler 300M that had everything, I decided to go Caddy. Anyway I got over it, I went on EBAY. FOund one for $40. Got it a few days later and slapped it in...Yes the wire is there for the Garage door supply and I am much happier the option is installed. No offence, but a clip on visor original remote is kinda tacky for the Caddy. What are they thinking not haeving the option...
BTW, week 3 and I love the car!

The problem with caddy is that it seems to always be a work in progress. I complertely agree with the Univ GDO. Everybody has their particular issue.
Mine is the Remote that requires two clicks to unlock the passenger door.
Now I understand the reason why that is the default.
But surely this must be the only remote system on the planet that is not programmable.
My 2003 Nissan is programmable and has been set to unlock all doors with one click.
My 1998 BMW was programmed to unlock both doors with one click.
But my 2008 flagship is not programmable.
Neither is the 2009.
And I didn't see it listed for the 2010.
Good car with a 1980s remote And basic options that should be standard.
It is the flagship you know, not a rental mule.
Option 3. My car is programed for the garage door but i still use the remote than came with the garage door.

Why? Do you still get up and change channels manually on the TV? ;)

Option 3. Maybe you can find a place to put the opener other than the visor. On my C5, I took the clip off and attached it with velcro to a small storage area in dash. Couldn't even see it.
