Today I installed a new system into my 1984 Cadillac Sedan DeVille. After getting everything installed I shut my trunk and noticed that my trunk lid was staying on. So I popped the trunk and the motor that takes the lid back down didn't come up. Luckily I'm not driving my '81 DeVille, so I switched motors and cars and the motor for the trunk worked fine. Now with the car running and the trunk closed the trunk light will stay off, but when I turn the car off the trunk light stays on. So I had to take the dash off and take out the light for it, so it won't drain my battery. What could be causing this to happen?

I think it might be a wire on one of the switchs for the trunk pulldown. Maybe the one on the trunk that says "hey, motor.. pull me down".

I've found that when mine acts up, i can press the switch on the lower trunk switch and the top switch at the same time, it will reset and come back up.

But yours sounds like it isnt making a closed connection with whatever senses the trunks open/close posistion.. damn, hard to explain -- which would not let the moter come back up, because it doesnt know iit should.

maybe the speakers rattled something loose, flick those peices around a bit .. thats what i do when mine acts up, always works :)
