Hello,

I am new to this forum.

Yesterday I stopped for gas, and after that the digital dash and the A/C control display quit working. The A/C blows cold!!. Only the diplay is not there. Engine runs fine.

Does anyone have an idea?

I checked the fuses and swapeed the ign mini relays. I read about it on another thread. But that was not the cause for my car.

Thanks

Hello, I was told that the electronic on Cadillac can be very sensitive to Bat Voltage changes. So I just put a new battery, it was still the first battery (7years old). Then checked the voltage at idle = 14.8V, which I believe is good, and the current measurement showed 61mA at ignition off. From experience, I would say those numbers are OK.

I checked the A/C harness inside the car.

Does anyone know what happens if light sensor breaks down?
Thanks

Removed the A/C unit and the dashboard. Then opened the cluster to be able to see the circuit board of the cluster etc. No sign of overheating or burn. Without a wiring dia. any attempt to try something is unfortunately limited.
Now I will put all together and bring the car to Cadillac dealership.

askimbenim, You may want to look at www.alldatadiy.com and subscribe your car for 3 years. All GM service manuals, Service Bulletins, recalls, wiring diagrams, labor times, diagnostic trees, and DTC's (Diagnostic trouble Codes) which are stored in your car's built-in code system. (The thread at the top of the page "How to pull codes".)

Your idle battery charging voltage is correct for a Cadillac system in good condition. 61 mA is a little high for parasitic current draw, BUT it may drop somewhat after RAP (Retained Accessory Power) shuts down 10 minutes after "Key OFF".

I have no idea what would cause the DIC to suddenly go dark. DIM (Dash Integration Module) ???

symptoms of a blown cluster fuse
id make sure you have power there

I put a new battery, the old one 7 years old, I assume it wouldnt have made another winter anyway. I wanted to make sure , no voltage peaks or lows cause problems.
Bytheway, I wanted to bring an interesting info up at www.autozone.com, you can register, and have access to useful informations around your car and basic wiring diagrams from a lot of car manufacturers. I downloaded the cluster and a/c related drawings. I checked the cluster main voltage supply (the connector at the left side of the cluster) all fine. the ground (3) were ok too. But it seems (I am really not sure on that) like the cluster and a/c are communicating via data link (probably CAN) , I have no insight about that. I brought the car to cadilla c dealer. I spent around 12h .
But thanks everyone for support. I will include the dealers sollution. I think it should be a standard to incluede the sollution of a problem, once the members fixed the issues.
Thanks

Hi again,

just had the dealer on the phone. They said the digital dash is not working and I need to replace it ($700 new + labour and tax) and that powers the A/C display.
I was anyway thinking on replacing the digital dash with analog one. So I'll do it now I think.

Yes good news. The analog dash works fine and also the A/C display is back. I do not know , why the tire pressure monitoring system doesnt show up, but probably its a matter of coding on the cluster.

I have a deville 03, and the cluster dash was from seville 02. I needed to cut a small piece on the "wood interior imitation" thing before the cluster, because the new one has a small digital display attachemnt.

Thanks
