I have a 1994 cadillac el dorado touring coupe with a 4.6 northstar engine. I tried to start it up and the system keeps telling me that STARTIN IS DISABLED DUE TO ANTI THEFT SYSTEM. PLEASE REMOVE KEY FROM IGNITION. Does anyone know what the problem is. If so, how can I correct the problem to allow me to start my car.

Sounds like your key may be worn down... Or else your VATS 'pellet' isn't making full contact?

I've got the exact same problem on my 96 Sedan Deville 4.6L. The codes appearing are IP2515, IP2710 and IP711. I took my car to a lock smith after someone suggested it might be the pellets on the vats key. And the lock smith said that another person brought him a cadillac with the same problem and he cut the person a new key, it didn't work, he then put a new ingnition in and it still didn't work. So I never replaced my ignition cylinder or keys since the problem happens with both sets of keys. Have you done anything to fix this? Also is there a recall on this issue?

Search the threads for the instructions on eliminating the vats module. See if that resolves your problem.

I'm taking my cady into a cadillac mechanic that works for the dealership after work today. I'll let you know what he comes up with..
