: STS-V looks better than CTS-V2

I fell asleep wiating for some new posts on the STS-V board so Ithought I would wander over here and start some SH!T.

I think the STS-V looks better and has better lines than the V2.. It looks more sleek and sexy...

I would compare the two like this
STS-V = slick well dressed Itialian dude in the club
CTS-V2 = roided body builder wearing tank top in the club

:hide:

Let the fun begin...

*** Seriously this is all in fun so lets keep it fun...

That is because you have only ever seen the CTS-V2 taillights. :) The front looks great.

Seriously, I like the STS-V. I just like the CTS-V better.

I'm sure if you owned a CTS-V you'd like it better!:thumbsup:Went and looked at one. Still too small inside. Set your front seats comfortable for and adult and you loose a lot of room in the rear. The STS-V has ample room in the back still.

Plus I have been reading CTS-V's stock dyno'ing around the 450 RWHP range. My stock dyno was 378 and with a minor adjustment in fuel I was putting down 400RWHP.

50 more HP more and a cieling of 600 Rwhp (fuel issues)

STS-v's can hit the 600hp mark (see D3's Satge 3 video):p

I love them both very much, but I find the rear lower faring on the V2 a bit awkward. Don't like the way if flares to the side when looking at the rear head-on. The STS-V looks good from absolutely every angle. Nothing seems forced or out of place. Plus, I really am not a fan of side fins. That said, I wouldn't mind both!

The STS-V is marginally bigger and wastes much of its ample poundage, especially compared to a CTS-V1. As for a D3 600whp STS-V, I'll believe it when I see it put out some relative numbers on the street...

Having owned a 2007 STS-V myself, I really loved that car. I loved the way it drove and the way it looked. It really did stand out, but compared to my 2009 CTS-V, I would have to say the CTS-V takes the cake for being a more aggressive all out kick ass car.

Everyone has their own opinion and I will keep it at that. If I like the STS-V more, I would have kept it and not have killed myself to get the 09 CTS-V.

Both look great. Both are quick. Both turn heads. Both are in my Driveway.

The STSv turns heads with its high pitch SC whine.
The CTSv turns heads with its loud rumble.

The STSv has softer seats, more interior space.
The CTSv has firm Recaros meant for taking corners quickly.

The STSv is the more comfy cruiser for long trips.
The CTSv is much more firm and fun to drive from point A to B.

The STSv Tops out at 168MPH
The CTSv Tops out at 178MPH (Auto)

I do think the exterior of the CTS-V is a bit overly aggressive. But I wouldn't want it ANY other way. The interior is very suave and I think it makes up for the exterior's in-your-face looks. Shows the onlookers that you will kick their ass if they start $hit, but provides top luxury for the lady passenger inside :cool2:

Bob, I owned both too, and no doubt the CTs-V is quicker. I will also tell you that the new V2 is heads and shoulders better inside than the STS-V, and more comfortable too. Driver leg room is greatly improved over the STS-V and overall the interior is more comfortable and classy, hands down.

You think you got looks in the STS-V, you should see the starings I get all the time in the CTS-V.

I'm sorry, but owning both the CTS-V is hands down the winner, even in the looks and class categories.

Its to each his own; I prefer the exclusivity of the STS-V (even more specifically having one in Stealth Gray) because here in upstate South Carolina you *NEVER* see one. I've had my car parked in restaurant parking lots and people stop to take pictures of it.. The (now scare) GM Accessories added a bit more pizazz and its hands down just a CLASSY, SMOOTH, WELL BUILT automobile; How can someone not get tired of a powerband thats smooth and seemless; and no BS about "thats why old farts drive it blah blah) because I'm not.. yet.... Its also paid for and that just sweetens the deal a bit! :highfive:...

I have owned both cars and I really loved the STS-V especially over the 2005 CTS-V. It was fun to drive but I found the seats to be uncomfortable on long trips. It is also like driving a battle tank. It turned very few heads while I had it. Just don't think it stood out that much from the regular STS.

The V2 on the other hand is everything I could ever want in a luxury sedan. From top to bottom the car is far superior and by a far margin. It has turned more heads than any other car I have owned.

Both cars look great, but at 6'4" I need a car and not just a shoe. I couldn't see the road in front of the CTS thanks to the sloping roofline. The CTS was not unique in that regard, the DTS was a no-go for the same reason. And the entire Chrysler line, Toyota, most Buicks, Acura, ... I was about to go look at an F150 when I found the STS.

Agreed, the STS, just the vehicle for you guys, after you get done at the early bird special, or the all you can eat buffet every night.. I suspect it is indeed hard to squeeze in your 375 pound frame in a regular car.
The pick-up probably would be a best selection, you can sit in the back with the bags of fertilizer and cement. I fit just fine at six-two. I also have good enough eye sight to see out the windows, a trip to your doctor for glasses, and several bags of salad mix is in your future.

Wow, this thread has been thoroughly entertaining. It think this is akin to arguing which Hooters waitress is hotter. In this case, they are both hot. :)

Have to admit the STS-V has that serious power look without the flash while the newer CTS-V does have a bit more of a look at me appeal. Kind of like a busty blond showing a little more skin than the others. Hard to ignore. Every time I see one, or the other, I just think, "Damn, that is one helluva nice car."

STS is a fine vehicle, the speed the owner can get to the all you can eat buffets, and early bird specials is fantastic. The room to fit the 379pd. frame in the seat is great, the ability and the assrance the STS gives to it's owners, they love to go shopping in their Pj's, wearing a bowler w/mink hat bad and feather is very reassuring.
These sts's can can easily maneuver the fast food drive thru's with ease and the big window helps when

Not cavernous enough! The golf bag is definitely in there but crooked. In the STS-V, you can layer in four or more golf bags with ease. The golf bag fits completely sideways, no angle. He is using this car at his winter home in Florida where he hosts many people and then takes them golfing. No senility there, actually, he already has first hand knowledge of the CTS platform trunk capacity. My mother has an 08 CTS-4 and he also has an SRX. So, the lack of sufficient width has always bugged him and he was not about to make the same mistake a third time, especially where he has to drive around full car load. Keep in mind the STS-V looks just like the 09 CTS-V to anyone other than the owners. He has already got the "Wow, nice car, is that the new CTS-V?" comments.

Looks like the olde golf bag excuse is a tad senile.

Not an excuse, a requirement. Have you fit 4 golf bags and some luggage in the back of your CTS-V? I think not. And, looking through this thread, most people have always noted preference. To most, arguing about 550 versus 469 horspower would seem academic since your average onlooker would have 300 horspower or less. All they see is too much or more of too much. I tried to steer him to the CTS-V because that is my preference, which was why he was at the dealer. They just happened to have an STS-V on the floor during his visit prompting his current choice. He drove both and preferred the STS version. The sales guy even chimed in with the "STS-V is more of a legacy platform that will soon no longer be made and the CTS-V is their latest and greatest with a better frame, handling and updated styling." My dad had one simple question, " Then, why does it cost less?" In the end, however, it all came down to space management. :)

I got my V to drive, not haul cargo, but the sts is like a barge so I see the sts can do the job, despite the horns on the hood, and flames on the sides

Well, if that was your only goal, then I think you may have the wrong car. Two extra doors and seats with 800 pounds of excess weight versus a Corvette Z06 means that the V is a compromise. The CTS-V is the practicum between a pure driving car and hauling more than two.

I cannot believe anyone cannot see where the CTS-V is not the right choice for some? I am just glad the old man understood the fun factor and got a V at all. Yes, it is an STS-V, but still a damn nice car. :)

:shifty:anibs:

And, no, golf clubs do not fit properly in the CTS to allow for four sets. The angle f***'s up the geometry. Not so in the STS. Maybe someone with the STS-V can snap a shot of their golf clubs in the back for the non-believers? Not that it matters much, it was only one facet in the consideration. Personally, I would have picked the CTS-V over the STS-V anyday. The golf club space was only one of the items he liked over the CTS-V, but it was the one he seemed to concentrate on in spite of me opining toward the CTS-V. :stirpot:

Ever run it?See my signature below (youtube link) to see the GN run a 10, some burnouts from my GN, and some of my other toys.

What has been done to it? Alot! Weber Racing rebuild, reinforced mains, 206/206 cam, GN1 Champion iron heads, Mark Jackson stretched intercooler with bigger hoses, Hemco plenum, Stainless Works headers, Houston downpipe, TE45A precision turbo, 28 lbs. of boost race/21 lbs. pump, 52lb injectors, Red's chip, Red's inlet bell, Janis trans, trans shift brake, Billet 911 convertor, HR Parts n' Stuff trailing arms, Rapid fire plugs, air bags, Moroso 40 mm super gas wires, etc., etc. Best time was a 10.38 @ 128, 60' 1.44 on a 10 bolt rear! Never forget that day, it snowed that evening we left the track. Had to pound the yoke off the trans with a sledge, from being twisted to the output shaft when I got home!

Lately have a TA49 turbo on it with Bosch .009 Blue Top 42 Lb. injectors, pump gas, boost set to 22 lbs. Runs 11.00's all day like it sits, on ET Street's.

I'd like to offer a succinct solution to the golf clubs in the V2 dilemma:

loved my sts-v when I had it. Not in the same league with the new V.

That sts-v was a 13.1-13.2 car (stock) and handled the twisties decently (not nearly as good as my two srt8s)

the new cts-v is 12.1 (thats another world from the sts-v) but EATS UP THE TWISTIES like no other sedan.

They look great--not hugely different. I would be proud to own either.

Nutz, Nice GN Man. I sold mine before getting into the motor and stuff. just a stock turbo and some injectors, Hypertech chip, adjustable waste gate turbo Dump tube. Sounded fast but the best i could do is a 13.76 on Street BFGs. Sick ride you had. I want another one to do it right this time. Yeah man. Keeping the V at about a nice 600 RWHP, restaurant going, kid's dance school takin' daily driver. And a monster GN in the garage for raping and pillaging.

Oh, the STS-....Sweet ride. liked it much better than the V1. but way over my budget at that time at @$80k. Willing to settle for the CTS-V but @ $50K was still like a mortgage to me. Now the new CTS-V will punch you in the mouth but give you a monogrammed handkerchief to clean your self up. I was so in love with this car i mortgaged my house for it. Hell they can foreclose my house but i can keep my car:o
Long live the CTS-V. Sorry to see the STS go. Her time has ended. I am sure when the smoke clears, out of her ashes will will be a Panamera,750i, A8 eater in looks, style and performance that will be 1-2-N-V....even for us V2 lovers. Ah heck, in the mean time, if you need to carry golf clubs, and lots of them for your plaid nikker wearing friends, go buy a DTS while supplies last. :D

Cannot disagree with that statement. The V2 rocks in all situations, in and outside.
