: Limp mode - my fault

Oops! Took delivery a week ago. Saturday morning I took the air filter out to check they had replaced per certified pre-owned. Disconnected the MAS and removed the air box cover and air tube to check the MAS grid was clean. You see where this is going... After driving over 100 miles, mostly highway, the car suddenly went into limp home mode. To make matters worse, my wife was with me, looking like "what in the hell did you buy". Fortunately, I was not on the interstate. I limped into a parking lot, and plugged in the MAS. Duh! Car seems fine. Did I cause any damage? Why did it take so long to go into limp home mode?

Look, it's just protecting itself from its owner.

Live long and prosper.

What's a MAS?

Mass air flow sensor. I think MAF sensor is the correct term. It is in the air intake tube, measures the mass of the air entering the engine so the electronic fuel injection computer can correctly determine how much fuel to deliver.
