Does anybody have the part number for the 2005 CTS-V Carbon Fiber Engine Kit. My Dealer's computer only has 2004 info. :helpless:

Are the kits available yet?

Last I checked with the dealer in mid-May, the "marketing" folks at GM got a little carried away with showing the wheels, carbon covers, exhaust options in the 2004 brochure and there is no ETA on any of the options at this time.

The covers are a figment of our imagination, much like this U.S. Navy aircraft....

When I first got to drool over the V at the Bayside Auto Show in Boston last November, it was equipped with a carbon fiber strut tower brace. Quite sweet. I remember other carbon fiber touches but can't remember where.

Miscreant? any word from the "source" on the GM Carbon Fiber kit????

After I saw the corvette covers and how they looked on the car (look at the FAQ if you have not seen them), I am considering finding corvette "blanks" that do not have the corvette logo molded into them in silver (they have them for the Camero, etc) and putting V or LS6 logos on them... However, my one big problem with this so far is that the blanks are very expensive ($200)... I would rather have the BMR kit if it came to that.... Not worth that much money to me...

Anyone have a cheaper source for these Corvette/LS1 FRCs??

One thing you could do is purchase a set of Camaro or Corvette covers and bondo in the recessed lettering, sand them and paint them silver. A set of LS1 black covers on ebay sell cheap. eBay Fuel Rail Covers (http://search.ebay.com/ls1-fuel-rail-cover_W0QQsofocusZbsQQsbrftogZ1QQfromZR10QQsotrZ2Q QcoactionZcompareQQcopagenumZ1QQcoentrypageZsearch )

The earlier model year covers have two slots on the LH cover and the later model covers have one slot. If you were going the Bondo route on the lettering, I'd recommend fiberglassing over the slots on the back side of the LH cover and put some Bondo over the top to fill in the slot. The slot(s) aren't needed for the V application.

Another option is to find some GTO covers - they are already silver.

I heard bondo doesn't stick well to the plastic, especially with the amount of heat under that hood. But thanks for the Ebay link... Thats a bit less expensive than the prices I have seen elsewhere.

Others have Bondo'd the covers with success, not sure about long term durability, but it has been done.

One example I quickly found...

FWIW there is no such thing as a Factory "Blank". If there is a company selling them then they are an aftermarket job or a Corvette Fuel Rail Cover that has been bondo'ed and painted. The F-Body never had fuel rail covers, all the ones you've seen are aftermarket. FWIW For my Trans Am I ordered a set of Corvette Fuel Rail Covers, and had a GM body shop fill the lettering and paint them Factory Quick Silver. I think the entire cost was maybe $150 or so.

Sorry for the poor pick, This is my TA, the "Trans Am" logos are door badges.
