I'm in the same boat, my friend. I acquired my first Caddy just last week knowing it was in need of new rubber. People in other rooms on this website told me to "stay OEM" and opt for the Michelin Symmetrys but when I check out customer reviews on this tire, (Tirerack.com), opinions of it are below average at best. I've spent several hours on the internet reading everything I could dig up on tires and have discovered that the tires you choose should reflect the type of driving you do: Laid-back, average, or "spirited". It seems every tire on the market is designed with one of these drivers in mind. I would advise you to go to the websites of Tirerack, Discount Tire, and other chains. They have made provisions for their customers to write reviews of their experiences and give their opinions of each and every tire. I have found these sites to be invaluable sources of information.
I hope this post has been of some help to you.

P.S. I am a laid-back kind of driver. Formula One handling is not a concern for me, I just want COMFORT and QUIET when I'm in the Caddy. I'm opting for the Michelin Primacy MXV4's. Good luck to you.

My 98 STS came with Michelin Symmetry's when I bought it, however I am much happier with the Michelin MXV4's on the car now. Nice ride and they are really good in the rain on the highway. Shimmy isn't nearly as bad sinced I changed the rubber as well.

You might also take a look at Cooper Tire's CS4-V. Very sticky in the turns and flat awesome in rain. Long treadwear and warranty, as well as a 45 day "If you don't like 'em we'll take 'em back" trial.
