So i was cruising ebay part hunting as per usual, and i came accross these. Now, im thinking did the 80's cads even have fender skirts as an option? I'd love to see a picture of one with these on. These particular fender skirts are fibreglass, and im guessing a repo. I'd be interesting to see.

I wish the picture of the first one it wasn't hopped up. I'd be interested in seeing what they look like on a normal car. Thanks for the pics! I wonder if anyone knows if they were on option?

Beautiful photography but the skirts are a no-go in my book, but thats just me.

Thats the 1st time I seen them for Broughams. They don't look good.

I think that if the skirts had the same chrome trim as the rocker panels and flowed into the fender a little better they would look great. However the third picture from the bottom almost makes me want them on my car. Almost.

Those look like poop. Although I've never been a fan of fender skirts on any car, it just creates too many body lines.

Up until 76 they were factory. 77 they went away and never came back until the FWD Fleetwoods in 89 and when the RWD Fleetwood Brougham was redone in 93. The 76 doesn't have a flare around the rear wheel so the skirt blends into the car. The 77-92 RWDs were never meant to have them and instead have halfskirts, that's why the aftermarket ones don't fit right.......

I bought a set for my car ($60), but have'nt done anything with them yet. I have a 91 Brougham and I think they would look much better with the euro mouldings. I've only seen on a few 80-92 cars but each one had its ups and downs. But I agree 100% that there needs to be chrome rocker trim on them so that they look better. Mine are gonna be a project.

Hi, The fender skirts were stock in 1976. In fact, the picture of the '76 Fleetwood Brougham shown above was my 9,700 actual mile car in Florentine Gold Firemist with white top and Light Ivory Gold leather and it had the very rare "air custhion restraint system" dual airbags. That shot was taken in the parking lot of my office. I sold the car a few years ago and there are more pictures of it in my album. Where did you find this picture?!? :)

Cardomain: cadillacpimpin69 (http://www.cardomain.com/ride/340012)

Before you check it out, your should know that he upgraded the sound system, engine, and suspension (using Mopar shocks/springs :hmm:).

Is that your license plate? Question shouldn't be where I got the pictures, but where he got them.

Sven, that's funny! It's my car in the parking lot of my old office. I sold the car on Autotrader.com and that's probably where the pictures came from. Notice the picture of the sound system appears to be from a 1986 or newer front drive Caddy judging by the wood. It's definitely my old car and the current owner is still in contact with me and he's far from a pimp! :) I love it!

I kinda like that. . . . it makes it look different but I like it. Anyone notice the windsheild visor on this car? That is something I have always thought about. I love the 50's cars with them.

here's the skirts I bought from that seller on eBay that the link was posted here at the top, though I got them for $50 before the seller jacked up the price to what it is now.

I actually liked the look of it, but I got lazy to get them painted so I sold them. The pics shown here of that black Cadillac is the guy who I sold them to. They look alright to me, but I agree with those who said that it should blend in and a nice chrome trim would set off the skirt, which is the same thing I told that guy who owns the blak Cadillac. BTW, these were offered as an option but were made of metal, I've seen the advertisement on another site, if I find it I'll post it here.

this one is a factory option one, notice the difference on this one to mine in relation to how much of the tire is covered and it does not have the chrome trim on the flange and I left mine on. This one looks good.

A factory option?!? I have been a Cad nut my whole life and while I've seen these skirts added to 1977+ full size rear drive Cads before I've never seen a factory option for them in a period brochure or accessory guide. The body of the Olds 98 was made for the skirt but the Cadillac wheel opening has a flare which makes the fender skirts stick out and causes me to doubt Cadillac designers would have ever intended for a fender skirt to be officially added. Enlighten me if I'm wrong. :) Dave

Now that looks sharp! the other ones don't do it for me.. Are they a different skirt or is it just the angle?

Maybe not a factory option but through HESS & EISENHARDT, it was available

they are two different types of skirts; the one shown in red are made a metal while the ones I got(had) are fiberglass, which are now on the black car that is pictured here to. Take a look at the pic of the brochure I posted showing them being available through HESS & EISENHARDT, they are the same as the ones on the red car.

Cool vinyl roof on the car in the Hess & Eisenhart brochure. After market stuff, not a factory option or accessory, but still neat. WOW, I still can't get over the vinyl top in that picture!!! :)

The skirts just don't belong on the '80s cars.

Yeah it's because there isn't any chrome trim on the bottom of the skirt, but the factory trim is still on the fender.

This 1976 Fleetwood Brougham was owned by me when that picture was taken - - it had just over 12k miles when I sold it in 2002 and it was stunningly clean and as new. Florentine Gold firemist, white top, light ivory gold leather. Factory dual airbags. It really was sex on wheels! Like a personal parade float - - everyone stared at it and many had something to say. I was nearly run off the road one time by a guy who couldn't stop honking his horn and giving me the thumbs up! Boy, do I wish I still had that car...what was I thinking when the money was flashing in front of me and I sold it?!? Profit profit profit. In hindsight I wish I still had the car. :)

I agree, the fender skirts on the 77-92 cars don't belong and they look tacked on to me. Dave
