1984 seville rebuilt 4.1L motor 4 years ago. manifold was good for the 1st 3 years then it leaked.Took it to goodyear to fix and that lasted 11months.Under warranty they refixed it and that lasted 6 months. It's the drivers side manifold 2nd & 3rd(2 middle plugs) plug wires melt in a half hour. Some people say use no gasket, some say use Fel-Pro gasket and copper coat adhesive, and some say use JB weld.Whats a guy to do?And can someone please tell me what sensor screws into the the drivers side head towards the firewall that takes one wire?Any help would be gratefull. Thank You.......Frankie

well im in the processes of installing my reman engine in my 83 eldorado
heres what i ran into 1st off there are 3 gaskets to use
two are fiber one side metal other side and one is fiber both sides
the trick is metal side towards the manifold the gasket thats fiber both
sides goes on the side with the sheetmetal/heatbox so ya wanna do
head|fiber/fiber|sheetmetal|fiber/metal|exhaust manifold
then the side without the heatbox head|fiber/metal|exhaust manifold
hope this helps and is comprehendable lol :bouncy: :bouncy: :bouncy:

The sensor you asked about is the Engine Metal Temperature sensor.
It is a thermal switch which turns the "stop engine temperature" idiot light.

My 84 Eldo would loosen the driver side manifold bolts every 4 months or so. I removed the sheet metal for the hot air tube and trimmed away most of it save for the piece that the aluminum hot air tube connected to. After that, no more loosening bolts.

Thanks CarNut! You were right! I went around the bolts about 5 or 6 times and tightened the living piss out of it. Replaced the melted plug wires And it runs fine now. Thanks Guy ......Frankie

Can i use Lock Tite on the exhaust manifold bolts to prevent them from coming loose again? Thank You
