The in dash Bose cd player in my '00 STS is done. I was planning on buying a used unit off ebay and noticed the Catera parts are cheaper. I'm only replacing the motor so I don't have to have the VIN reprogrammed, will the Catera motor fit the STS heater controls and such ?

The tape module of a base Catera HU is IDENTICAL with the one from a base Seville/Eldorado/Deville HU. I am almost sure the BOSE tape is the same too. It was not the only interchangeable part (the front PCB with the buttons and display controller) was the same too. Basically everything except the motherboard (and even on the motherboard MOST of the components are the same). The controller chip, firmware and the communication protocol on the data wires it is different though.
So an educated guess will say yes (but considering the price difference $10-$15 I would not risk-it).

they will work
however the radio is NOT interchangeable
something about how the cat radio communicates with the amp

i have quite a few decks out of my personal cars (had nav upgrades on all my Sevs and a buddies Sev)
i could sell you one so you know it will work
