Between winks to the audience, Scott Settlemire, Cheryl Pilcher, John Fitzpatrick, Al Oppenheiser and John Cox shared the following Z28 info:

As we previously reported, the Z28 hood will be as seen on the 2nd gen Bumblebee Camaro.
It will receive a different grill treatment, albeit with a Chevy bowtie emblem.
It will probably have a different rear special.
It will have Z28 emblems and/or graphics.
It will have a high output LS? engine (so long as it meets gov. fuel standards).
Camaro Convertible will be available in spring of 2011, and the Z28 will follow sometime after.

LS7? Much more computer controlled LSA to pass standards?

That's sweet! When it debuted initially, was the Z28 the top Camaro or was the SS(396)? I'm confused. In the 4th gen, the SS was top dawg, but I've heard it wasn't always that way.

I just hope it looks a LOT better than that current pig rolling down the streets.

Oh yeah, walking one of those ugly KRs would be a nice touch too.

The 4th GEN was backwards, originallly the Z28 was the top dog!

Is that why they cut off the SS for so many years and continued the Z28 for most of it's lifespan?

What does Z-28 stand for anyways? It certainly doesn't follow the pattern of later Chevrolet nomenclature because it's not a 2.8 liter.

The origin of the Z/28 nameplate was that the special sport package was option code RPO-Z/28. It didn't really become a marketing name till '69 when the package really became popular.

The original Cavalier Z24 wasn't a 2.4. It's was the 2.8L V-6 so I don't follow the logic there.

Z34 Lumina was a twin cam 3.4L

I know that. Chevy, and GM for that matter really, has always had a tendency to just do whatever they felt like. The Z badged cars really didn't follow any order. Camaro Z28, Cavalier Z24, Beretta Z26, Lumina Z34. A little sporadic...

Heck yeah, that's awesome. Wasn't it originally supposed to be supercharged?
