Holy shit, I thought you were doing this as a joke!

He's dead!

A sad day for salesmen across the world. Myself included. :(
That TV show that he had on Discovery (Pitchmen) was cool too, I enjoyed watching that on Wednesday nights.

VtYdDK1uTDI RIP. :( :(

WTF? I thought this stuff was supposed to happen in threes??

06-28-09, 12:28 PM
Now that Billy is gone, that "Shamwow Vince" will be the new "King of Infomercials"... him and the whore who beat him up.....

A sad day for Television salesmanship and someone who I probably liked even more than Jackson :(

06-28-09, 12:49 PM

I got my money on Larry King.

06-28-09, 12:55 PM
Damn, I just saw him on Conan the other night too. RIP.

Swayze. (Though I thought about Larry the other night too).

06-28-09, 01:01 PM
I heard they found him with a Shamwow around his junk.

"So, bye bye Miss American Pie,
Drove my Chevy to the levee, but the levee was dry...."

I got my money on Larry King.

Both Mays and Jackson were born in '58, so I got my money on anyone else born in 1958.

Been a real rough week for celebrities, and as far as pitchmen goes I definitely liked Billy more than that annoying as hell Shamwow Vince.....hopefully enough of the rest of the world feels the same so he doesn't get any more deals.

06-28-09, 01:58 PM
Wow. Kaboom will never be teh same. :( RIP, Billy.

Mays was on a U S Airways flight that made a hard landing. Something from an overhead bin hit him on the head but Mays thought it was nothing. Maybe not?

06-28-09, 02:51 PM
Remember Natasha Richardson thought she was fine after a head injury as well. :(

Bingo! That dude was awesome. He could have sold me a turd and I would have believed it was the best thing ever. :( RIP.

.....with the power of OxyClean!

He was a huckster and I would not have purchased ANYTHING that he pitched. He was the epitome of a snake oil salesman. Maybe now they will take his annoying commercials off the air. Not sure who I'll miss less, him or MJ.

06-28-09, 07:35 PM
While Ranger's opinion is more strongly felt than is my opinion, I also felt the guy was just another huckster, and an annoying one at that. I was enclined to forego any product that he was selling in the hope that time would erase his abbrasive pitch delivery from the air waves. While we are the subject of shameless hucksters, let's not forget that despite his service to his country, Ed Mc Mahon would have to be included among those who are to be considered "shameless" shills of the air waves. Mc Mahon was willing to shill any product regardless of its' value to the customer and use his celebrity to make a buck any way he could. Some would say it's the American way, well unfortunately this may be true.

In the end Billy May made his living as a straight forward huckster, he had no celebrity to prostitute before he won some as TV pitch man. Somehow Billy May seemed to me the more honest of these two. I am always dubious about the motives of those who abuse the public's trust to feather their own nest!

06-28-09, 07:40 PM
I definitely think that Billy was the most personable and nice guy of all the big time "hucksters". The shamwow (Vince Schlomi) guy seemed slimy, especially after the incident with the prostitute and Billy's partner on Pitchmen, Anthony Sullivan, wasn't as nice or as personable when they were on a local Morning show a few weeks back. Even the morning show host commented on how nice Billy was, but how rude and annoying "sulley" was.

I have never heard a bad thing about Billy Mays "around town".

06-28-09, 08:04 PM
None of them could match Gallagher and his Sledge-O-Matic.

06-28-09, 11:46 PM
Billy Mays sold a lot of crap, but he seemed like a genuinely good guy who was always happy and upbeat about life and seemed to appreciate what he earned.

Very different from MJ, who was a sad shut-in.

OH GOD LOL! SO WRONG.... but so right.

The truth is he seemed like such a lighthearted guy he'd laugh at this stuff even beyond the grave. I really wanted to meet him someday... now I'm sad. :crying:
