When I try to post, it duplicates the post & in turn gives me a "17 second rule" warning

I have been getting that, but only in the V forum for some reason.

And that error is not new. I have been seeing that one here for a while now. But it has gotten more frequent as of late.

It looks like we're getting busier. That normally only happens when the server is being taxed...

We need to do a telethon to raise money for a new server :D

Those all sound like very interesting ideas. :p

I think once the new version of this software goes live, things will be much, much better. If not, than I'm considering switching software altogether to the same thing running www.lincolnforums.com

Never heard of ipboard. Hard to imagine why we are having so many problems. vbulletin is a proven and reliable package.

Couldnt you just shut down the forums for a day, and reinstall the whole package from scratch? I understand how much work that is, but it can't be anymore work than moving to a new database system.

If I was in FL, I would volunteer to help you; my experience with database servers is nil, but I do have experience maintaining my small business server, and I restore workstations in my sleep.

That error (and the double posting Mike mentioned) was happening to me in that thread as well, which is why I shut it down. I think it has something to do with all the posts I've deleted there and threads that I've merged into that one, because the same thing happened to the Toynot thread and Tiffany thread over time.

I was getting that error in that thread. I did get it in a couple other threads, I don't remember which. But it certainly seemed isolated to certain threads, not the whole site. The only problem I have ever had globally with this site is the openx thing. (and of course the "server is too busy at the moment" thing which thankfully hasnt come back in a long time.)
