(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((( Well, after burning out my V in Scotts dealership lot for 2 minutes I dashed off at about 60+ MPH for the first two days home.... Hawkeye2 06-24-09, 05:32 PM It's in. Check the photo thread. Now - to get home and drive! mik2718 06-24-09, 05:35 PM What is the "book" break in period....500 miles? <60mph? The book says: New Vehicle Break-In Notice: The vehicle does not need an elaborate break-in. But it will perform better in the long run if you follow these guidelines: • Keep your speed at 70 mph (113 km/h) or less for the first 1,500 miles (2 414km). • Do not drive at any one constant speed, fast or slow, for the first 500 miles (805 km). Do not make full-throttle starts. Avoid downshifting to brake or slow the vehicle. • Avoid making hard stops for the first 200 miles (322 km) or so. During this time the new brake linings are not yet broken in. Hard stops with new linings can mean premature wear and earlier replacement. Follow this breaking-in guideline every time you get new brake linings. • Do not tow a trailer during break-in. See Towing a Trailer (CTS-V) on page 4-29 for the trailer towing capabilities of the vehicle and more information. Following break-in, engine speed and load can be gradually increased. thunder gray 06-24-09, 08:33 PM Yep it's a bitch this waiting, hope the time frame (3 wks) is correct because I will be out of town the next 2 wks. and hate to have it set at the dealership. But thanks anyway! vperl 06-25-09, 07:20 PM Wow the kindness and that special feeling that goes with it is a joy to behold, think I will just wait and have the dealership hold it for me. But thanks anyway! ********************************************** Cannot speak for all, but a few of us are indeed "special" Drop everything pickup your V2 and keep it close till you come home......... BTW, drop your gas card in the dealers slot till we get back, I'll return the card when you get back, easy way to contol the loss of your card. Hawkeye2 06-25-09, 11:03 PM Gas card - dealer filled mine for me. And he gave me a CTS V memory stick for the radio. Said it was a one of, some sort of promotion Caddy did a while back and he got one. He knows I'm a GM car nut, with several of them at home, so he gave it to me. I also asked him for the V poster in the showroom for my garage. He said no problem "it's yours"! uae 06-26-09, 06:56 AM Congrats, hope to see new pix But is it worth the wait? Ming might take up to 4 months :( mik2718 06-26-09, 07:59 AM But is it worth the wait? It is definitely worth it to get the car exactly the way you want it. thunder gray 06-26-09, 01:20 PM I agree with mik2718; the wait is driving me crazy but to have YOUR car delivered to you in your 1st choice color/equipment is a real treat. | |
