I was wondering if anyone has ever installed a complete system in a CTS. I read miscreat's threads about the basslink and subwoofer installation, but I would like to replace all the speakers, and use my own amps (I have two from my old car - an Alpine and a Pioneer, both are excellent amps I've had since about 1997 and combined with my speaker of choice, Boston Accoustic, would blow even the factory Bose option out the water!)
I do have some serious concerns. I've worked on and installed stereo systems on mine and many other people's cars (I repair them for a living, but I do installs as a side job when I feel like it :) ). I've never played around with data bus connectors and multiplex, which I know has replaced good old hot, ground, acc, remote, and constant for radio operations. I am aware the CTS uses a host of modern technology, which is great, but at the same time really blows.
So, I would like to know if any of you have ever done serious stereo modifications on a CTS. I don't plan on replacing the head unit (probably impossible), but I would like to use my own amps and factory sized speakers. Anyone who could lend some advise would be appreciated.
I'm too much of an audiophile to wait and see how I like the stock system - I'm asking before I even buy it because I intend on ripping it out the day I do buy it. I can't stand stock stereos.
