I watched the fireball go up, this is around 1/8 mile from the house! Talk about an interesting weekend. We got evacuated and didn't get back till today around 3. Power was out from 8:45pm till around 6:30am

For those of you who know Rockford, most of these were taken from the I39 on ramp from Bypass 20 (US20), as they would not let us stay, wasn't WANTING to stay to not take chances, the fire was from Ethanol and a early reports were Ethanol and Sulfuric Acid. So needless to say, we didn't wanna be around that! So far it looks to be only Ethanol on its way from Freeport to Chicago.

Well, it was a clean burning fire! Smoke wasn't bad at all, very little smell.

No, we never lost power.

Waxed is right. Got over 3.5 inches of rain. I now have lake front property and most likely will for several days.

Wow. That is what happened here that led to the train derailment.

That's a pretty good little blaze there. The last one I saw up close and personal was last month.

It took out nearly 100 prime real estate homes.

Wow, sure makes you respect fire.

This one they let burn out, 150K gallons of Ethanol, nothing they could do to stop it, spraying water would only spread it and then the ethanol would soak into the ground, which is our water supply....

Hope no one was hurt in that one, building fires can be the worst, you can't get out....

So after losing 150 thousand gallons, keep an eye out for 8% ethanol gas!:D

So potentially $2-300,000.00 worth of fuel quite literally, up in smoke, just as the summer driving season is about to begin. I swear you could not make this stuff up.

I have been trying not to think of it.... The fuel was headed to Chicago, so now if someone figures it out, they will spike the prices......

First I am hearing of this also, my grandparents live in Belveidere. I wonder if they are all right, do you know if they could have possibly been evacuated?

Looks like quite an explosion, how many people called you a 'ratard' for trying to take pictures while a huge explosion was going off.

Good to hear you are ok, and hopefully no one was hurt.

Poor Rockford. That town cant get a break. A few years ago it was ranked 300 in a quality of life ranking of the 300 largest cities.

That reminds me of the last time I had White Castle. Never again.

At least you have power now. Half the traffic lights by my house are still out. There is a house in my neighborhood that now has a tree through the garage roof. It was some pretty bad wind.
