View Full Version : How about a ZR1 hood for your V2?

I find irresistible the hood on the ZR1 that shows the supercharger though a Plexiglas rectangle. I am wondering if this has been thought of for the V2 and what you guys think of such a thing? Depending on the response, what would be the cost and where can it be done...like in Florida?

PS...I am aware of what Specter Werkes Sports is doing now with his new design.

I don't it would look as clean on the CTS-V, as it does on the ZR-1.

What I mean by that, is that the ZR-1 hood closes cleanly near the top of the supercharger, making for a neat (as in tidy) appearance.

The CTS-V has the strut brace running across the top of the engine, and at best a window on the CTS-V hood would be about as tidy as the plexi-glass hood on the 1949 Oldsmobile demo cars. There's just too much dead air between the top of the supercharger housing, and the underside of the CTS-V hood, for a window to (in my opinion) provide the same impact as on the ZR-1.

The ZR1 hood is a love it or hate it type thing with the majority hating it. I would not want to tarnish the near universal praise with that...

I would not. Thank God that GM did not do that to the CTS-V, and I don't even have one yet. Too much wanna-be aspect.

Wow, I didnt even realize the opening in the ZR1 hood showed the supercharger. I thought it just showed the engine cover...

Not really diggin' it...

I'll stick with the hood bulge. It's enough to let people know there's something different under the hood, but not over the top like having a see-through window.

You are correct... it is just a cover. Lame if you ask me. Not like the Ford GT where you can actually see the blower sitting nice and proud on top of its engine.

Neons on your Vette? You're sure to impress the 15 year olds and ricers with that...

I don't care for it on the Vette and I would downright hate it on a V.

I with most of the posters to this thread. The see-through panel on the Vette doesn't belong on the CTS-V. The CTS-V looks better the way it is.
