I’ve been regularly reading this extremely useful forum for many months but have struggled getting registered. I want to thank Cadillac Tony down in Florida for helping me finally get registered today so I could post comments.
I’m in the market for a fully loaded Crystal Red (auto and Recaro). I ordered one 3 months ago, and my local dealer here in Omaha very recently received notice from GM that they were rescinding the sold order!! So I’ve spent the last week trying to find a V that has not been sitting on a dealer’s lot for multiple months being beaten by the weather, and accumulating “hard miles” in “test runs” by prospective buyers. (From what I’ve been told, I should be “suspicious” of any odometer reading over 15 to 20 miles or so.) I was especially worried about the auto transmission having its life-span greatly shortened by hard driving in its early life (before at least 500 or so “easy” miles are driven). I plan on having Jess (Wait4me) do some moderate tuning of my V at his shop in Indiana, so I don’t want to have to hassle with potential warranty claims due to parts that are already “compromised” when I receive the car.
Though Scott at Superior and Tony at Plaza were ultimately unable to locate a V with the specifications I’m seeking, I would like to publicly thank them for their hard work in trying to find the V I would like to buy. They are great car guys and very patient in listening to the endless chatter and questions that are part of my DNA as a professor. It really “sucks” that GM is eliminating Scott’s dealership.
I realize now I should not have been so focused on “going local.” Until I talked with Tony, I was unaware that an out-of-state dealer can ship a car from the factory directly to your local dealer at no extra charge (other than possibly a few hundred dollars to compensate for the pre-delivery “prep” that the local dealer might do). It would seem that the high-volume “national” V dealerships get higher priority and quicker delivery than the “local” dealers. Lesson learned.
