Lol. mik2718 06-17-09, 07:50 PM Definitely not appropriate for these wheels. Titaniumseeker 06-19-09, 10:10 AM The dealer sold these wheel locks to me and they stick out and look odd.

I just noticed that mine are the same. wtf? thunder gray 06-19-09, 11:19 AM Yes they look like crap. Wheel locks like those mean nothing to someone who wants your wheels. I have a different set (5) on each wheel of my Vett with after market wheels, if a thief wants the wheels they have to break off 5 on ea. wheel. Razorecko 06-19-09, 11:21 AM ITS reallllly fn' impossible to find anything 14x1.5 that isn't long and made for a truck... Bee iLL 06-19-09, 11:32 AM Have you took a look at Gorilla Wheel Locks? Have them on my STS-V and they fit perfect.
Edit - Just checked and they do make them in 14x1.5. Looks like there are multiple lengths to choose from also. tedcmiller 06-19-09, 11:46 AM When I last checked with Cadillac parts, there was no GM wheel lock available for the 2009 CTS or CTS-V. It should be noted that GM has used non-GM suppliers (such as McGard and Gorilla) for years.
So, I looked around and found a suitable Gorilla wheel lock number 61641. This wheel lock is less than 0.1 inch longer than the stock lug nuts and has the proper thread and seat (14x1.5 mm thread, conical seat).
Note that the width of the wheel is different from front to rear because of the different tire width. So the front lug nuts are closer to the face of the wheel than the rear.
This particular issue has been mentioned in at least two previous threads, and I provided the Gorilla part number in both cases. Your choice.
Note also, that while five wheel locks on each wheel is better protection than one, one wheel lock is better than none. Five locks on each wheel might encourage thieves to take the whole car rather than just the wheels. Flavoade 06-20-09, 02:29 PM All you have to do to break a wheel lock is just put a larger size socket around it and force it on there. kylooch 06-20-09, 03:16 PM Those are the GM wheel locks for the CTS... FYI there is a wheel lug kit as well that you can buy that A) Look much better than the stock lugs, and B) Match the wheel lock in length. I can take a picture if it helps anyone out if you would like to see. My dealer installed them on my DI RWD when I picked it up last July. My stock lugs are in a box inside the trunk. dvandentop 06-20-09, 03:33 PM return them ACK kylooch 06-20-09, 03:42 PM Those are the GM wheel locks for the CTS... EDIT: Here's some pics on my wheels. Not V 19's, but DI 18's.

Sorry about the rain/brake dust. chopmeat 06-20-09, 04:13 PM Thanks Tedcmiller!
As far as putting wheel locks on, I really don't leave my car anywhere so I don't even need them. But, I am a New Yorker, and my paranoia will always make me buy 'em! Titaniumseeker 06-20-09, 07:36 PM In my case, they did indeed use the Escalade wheel locks. Confirmed that fact yesterday and also that there are no wheel locks available for the 09 CTS-V yet. Gary Wells 06-20-09, 08:07 PM Those are ugly, no doubt about it. Fubar75207 06-20-09, 11:43 PM They would also be easy to remove because they stick out. One large set of vice grips would do away with your looking wheel nuts. tedcmiller 06-21-09, 12:26 AM In a previous post I indicated that the Gorilla 61641 rings did not turn as Gorilla indicated that they did. I was wrong about that. They do turn but not really easily. However any set of pliers (e.g., Channelocks) or sockets used to attempt removal of the wheel lock without the coded removal socket will cause them to turn and removal by that method will be difficult if not impossible. |
