View Full Version : Aluminum Pedals? Where to find?

Anyone know of a good source - besides the dealerships that charge an arm and a leg - where I can get the aluminum pedals that come with the Recaro package? I've tried eBay and a few other places without luck. I did try the parts department at my local dealership, but the parts manager didn't know if he could get them or not and has not found it in himself to get back to me as he said he would.

Try this place http://www.gmpartszone.com/

Look up the Accesoeries link for Cadillac CTS

$87.50 for the automatic, $105 for a standard. I haven't ordered from them, but their prices look pretty decent.

This direct link to the pedals might even work
http://www.gmpartszone.com/Scripts/prodList.asp?ModelId=728&modelname=CTS&modelyear=2009&catalogid=1&catalogname=Accessories&idCategory=18

There's also a forum supporting vendor who sells their own custom pedals, but for some reason, today for the first time in weeks, their ad doesn't appear on the forum home page so I can't get you a name.

I think I have a number of pedal manufacturers in the ctsvpart.com site.

Thanks, Luke. Are these the same items as 62Jeff suggested at GMPartsZone? Because they're only $87.50 for both the brake and gas.

that link is for GM accessory pedal covers that are not listed to fit the V, only the CTS. With that said this is going to require a little more research on my part. I went out on the lot and got the VIN from a V with the pedals in question and the VIN to a car without them and they come back to having the same pedals (which is not the case obviously). will post later with the real deal

That's very interesting. If that is accurate, then that is a very misleading advertisement. Considering the photo shows the module for the accelerator pedal, I sure read this listing as being the parts that were on the CTS-V, Recaro option.

I'll be curious to hear what you find, because I was planning on doing this swap at some point.

The more time I spend looking back and forth at these the more confusing it gets (and it shouldnt be). I have what should be a AT brake pedal cover and a MT clutch or brake pedal cover coming in tomorrow or Monday that SHOULD be the stainless ones. I will no more as soon as I get them

I called the dealership again today to try and find out why the parts manager did not look into this as he said he would. Of course, he wasn't there so I told the person who answered the phone what I was trying to purchase. The guy must have asked me 4 or 5 times if I had the Recaros, what I was specifically looking for, and then questioned whether or not I had actual knowledge that aluminum pedals were even offered. I tried extremely hard not to be impatient, but he was either not paying attention to anything I was saying or he didn't have a clue how to look up parts.

I'm getting a little frustrated here. I want to buy some pedals for my car but no one seems to have any answers!! :bonkers:

Kinda sounds like my experience here. When I walked up to the parts counter and asked if the Alacantra wheel and shifter were available and pricing, he insisted on having a v.i.n. to look into the system. I proceeded to give my v.i.n. and (after 5 mins of waiting) he says "sir, according to your v.i.n. that is only available with a specific package (Recaro's... ya? tapping foot), there is 3 steering wheels for your car, if you want to plop down $379.00 for one of them, I can't guarantee it will work, and you own it, and I think the shifter is like $179.00 more too"

Yeah, come to think of it the guy did say he needed a VIN to clarify something that he was looking at.

I'm not sure how that's my problem though, and I was hoping to rely on his expertise to get me the information I was requesting.

I guess I could call another dealership with a V on the lot (his didn't have one evidently) and get it for him. I just feel like he's not wanting to dig any further than he absolutely has to. Of course, I may eat my words if he calls me tomorrow with an answer.

Do the metal pedals automatically come with the Recaro seats or is it a separate option that is ordered? Thanks...

Vic Alfonso in Portland is who I've been dealing with. Although if I don't hear back from them in a few days I'll call Larsen Motors in McMinnville.

They come with the seat option.

However, to answer the second part of your question...

That's what this whole thread is about. So if you happen to find out before me, please let me know!!! LOL

That's interesting... I have the Recaro seats but no metal pedals. Was this something that was added later in the builds or should all CTS-V's with Recaro seats have the metal pedals?

Interesting indeed. I was under the impression that the pedals were part of the Recaro package. Not only have I read this some place (and can't remember where) but I have also seen a V at the dealership lot with the window sticker clearly indicating that the Recaro option included aluminum pedals. And yes, that car did have the pedals. All others I have seen with the base seats did not.

Anyone else care to chime in on this?

Sounds like your dealer's parts department figured out a way to get the metal pedals "in stock" for one of it's other customers.

I'm with you guys, it sure would be nice to get a definitive answer on the GM parts.

I found a vendor on e-bay selling the GM parts, calling them "covers" while showing the stock photo that implies they are really pedal assemblies. I've asked him for clarification, hopefully he'll reply with a clear answer.

The parts guy from the dealership called me to say he thinks he found the pedals I'm looking for and is ordering them in. He's not charging me for them until we know they're the right part.

Kudos to Steve at Vic Alfonso Cadillac in Portland. I know I can get them much cheaper somewhere else, but I'll buy them from him since he clearly did some research and spent the time in the name of customer service.

If they are the correct ones be sure and post the part numbers. It may help someone else in the future.

The e-bay vendor wrote back, said the pedals he sells (GM part number 19171864 or 19171865) are covers only. These are the same part numbers listed by the GM Parts Zone. Both the e-bay listing, and the GM Parts Zone show photos that imply these are pedal assemblies, but the e-bay vendor confirmed they are not.

I called the dealer and asked about the metal pedals coming with the Recaro seat option. Dealer said they called the GM rep and he said it was an option even with the Recaro seats - you had to check the box for the medal pedals. How do you get definitive answers?

I went to the dealer.
Take a recaro package CTS-V Vin # number to the Parts Dept to get the right part for manual or auto. You can get the Vin number from Ebay.
I paid like only $110 for both.

Are you saying you paid the dealer $110 for both the aluminum gas pedal and brake? Do you have them already or are they on order? Because my local dealership is charging me about twice that much.

I went to the dealer today to look at the pedals they ordered for me. These are the entire pedal assembly, not just the pedals themselves. These bolt to the firewall and the brake pedal unit in particular is very large. He wanted $240 for both, and another $200 for the install. I might be able to do the install myself, but without taking a better look down there I don't know for sure.

I really need some help guys! Has anyone ordered just the pads that slip over or are somehow adhered to the OEM plastic pedals? I can't believe that no one has a definitive answer on this.

Tony -

Did you look at the pedals from site sponsor SRP pedals? they have a sticky at the top of the V1 page. I had them on my V1, and now on my V2. I love these pedals, and I like them more than the pedals on the Recarro equipped cars. They are easy to bolt/screw on, and are very good while tracking the car.

Sorry for my delay in getting back to this thread. I have here in front of me a pedal "pad" for a AT brake pedal and a MT brake pedal. they are the stainless style found on the recarro pkg cars. the gas pedal is only sold as a complete unit, there is no replaceable pad. the pedal "pads" are about $20.00 each and the gas pedal assembly is around $92.00. it appears the clutch and brake on the MT cars use the same pad.

Hey Luke, thanks for posting the info. Do you know if the gas pedal is a plug and play unit, or does it need calibration or anything else other than bolt-on to the firewall?

Muchas thanks.

There should not be any programing or calibration needed when installing the new pedal

Tony, Here are my pedals for an 09 Auto from SRP. I worked with them to get the correct milled sizes for the 2009. Install is easy and price is based upon finish.
