Beautiful E55 AMG.

Consider him killed :)

Couple races with him. First one he just took off bout 6 cars (I was doing 80) and I started pulling him in then passed him at 120 and continued to pull him pretty hard.

Next we slowed down and I was in second gear bout 4k RPM, 3 honk and I pulled him 3 cars through third and let off in fourth.

Real nice guy though and the car was gorgeous.

Nice kill
I really like the E55 too.. its a great car, I think the new E63 coupe is killer too.
hope you get to test it out against some modified M5s and C63s :D

Did you go WOT at the same time? That strikes me as strange...an stock E55 shouldn't stand a chance, especially with your crank pulley mod. Was he modded?

I was late to be honest. The car had rims and custom exhaust for sure. He was pretty aggressive to race me so I assume he was not stock.

Nice. I haven't had any merc willing to do anything. I guess here in north dallas they buy them for show. Saw a cl65 amg sitting at a stop light on Preston yesterday. It is a beauty.

There is a 550rwhp Dinan Stroker M5 in a DFW auto club. Also a HPF M3 doing around 600hp on pump gas and much higher on race gas. I want to race both of them and see how our torque does against them.

Well a stock V2 is gonna put down 460rwhp on average. Then you have a modified V2 with tune and pulley giving you roughly 100rwhp. That kind of difference your going to pull a stock one pretty good.

If you paid the greenbacks they did to modify that car, you'd be proud too. ;)

Congrats on the kill CadV

I think the M5 run would be one heck of a competition. The M3? I think you might struggle in that one, as he has a significant weight advantage over you, to say nothing about having a little more power.

Would be fun to witness though. :)

I know the owner of both the M5 and the M3. They are both willing to do a little fun run on video. You will not beat the M3 (as it puts down close to 680 rwhp and has a flat torque curve from 3500 rpm on) but the M5 should make for a good matchup.

Tell them I will come out not this weekend but the next. Would like to race the M3 on pump gas, I know I am no match for him on race gas.

Cliff, DFW Auto Club meets every Sat morning. I'll give you the info if you want. I cant make it next Sat but I will be there the Sat after. JWA999 and CIWS also make it to the meets. The M3 is no joke! I have not see the stroked M5, but you saw the youtube video of him walking the stock '09 V.

Cant wait to see your car now. I'm taking my car to SNL June 29th for a stage 1.5 Monster Clutch and lightweight flywheel.

I'm all for this race, but make sure you hit up the 600 rwhp mark before trying. that s/c pulley swap and an exhaust should do it... if you can't get an exhaust available in 2 weeks you can probably try deleting the 2 rear catalytic converters to improve flow slightly. From what I have tried I think that the best way to race is to press the traction button once, keep suspension on sport, manually shift it to 2nd gear 40mph and as soon as you WOT switch it back to D then to S really quickly and let the auto shifter do it's thing, always does it better than manual upshifts. oh and good luck !!

but with that the gears will change at 6200 rpm.. but if we change it ourselves then it will change at 6400... (w4me tune).. does it make a diff...?

I don't know I'm quite sure its supposed to shift at 6400 on automatic if that's what the tune set it to. but personally I would rather have auto-shifts at 6200 rather than making a mistake that delays me by half a second for the sake of 200 more rpm. I really prefer auto-shifting and I am really sad that it doesn't have that function where it auto upshifts on its own when it reaches the rev limit. My first race I seriously messed up on that since i expected it to auto upshift.

Very nice! Modded E55s can hit low 120mph traps which would be a sweet race!

manual-shift yourself-6400

guys which is more better.... the more rpm, the more fast???

The more rpms you can wring out of a lower gear, the longer you get to take advantage of that lower gear's ratio. Yes, that means it'll be faster.

Unless for some reason the power just goes completely caput (and I mean absolutely falls flat on it's face; enough to offset the gearing advantage) at those rpms, which is highly unlikely.

Which generation M3 is that?

If that's the E90/E92, that's insane that they've already dug that deep into that motor that quickly. And the M motors are not exactly the easiest/cheapest motors to extract that kind of power from...

I'm still in thought about this from the last time this was brought up.

What would be the "best" way to evaluate when to shift?

Get a dyno run, for each gear, note the HP at a given RPM, multiply that times the transmission gear ratio and then shift when you near/hit the rev-limiter or when the next gear yields a higher number (which would be lower than the rev limiter)???

Hmmm....

Do I need to factor in the differential ratio, and tire size as well? Holy crap--this seems to get ugly fast!

CadV

Usually I put it into sport to control the RPM but as soon as I nail it, I flip it back to tour then into sport again. Let the car do the work :P

FWIW, I've got a friend who has a red Ford GT, has a few upgrades and is pumping out over 700hp...those things are pretty cool. Alas they still are a FORD. :violin: meh.

Shifting at redline may not be (and usually isn't) the best way to shift.

Here's a optimum shift point calculator but you should get a dyno run graph to fill in the points. It'll calculate the optimum shift based on what gear ratio you have next and at what torque/HP will you be at after the shift.

http://www.bgsoflex.com/shifter.html

There are many other shift point calculators online but the link for the one I used to use is no longer available.

when i had my Zo6.....intake/ tune/ headers...
(c6)

I walked a Ford GT..... But i think the Vette ( as great as it is) just doesn't have the presence of the V

Anyway i'm Italian...cicilian to be exact and 45. I dig the looks i get in the V.....and with a few mods easily matches a stock Zo6 in raw acceleration....and i don't have to shift.
