It appears that China, long since the international whipping boy for safety defects in everything from dog food to drywall, have brought it upon themselves to halt the import of 170 Renault vehicles built in 2007 because they feel the vehicles don't meet their "safety requirements". Go figure.

I think Renault's problem is not paying off the right government official. I'm sure that's how some of those Chinese shit-boxes get past safety/emissions/quality standards set by the government.
