Hello everyone, this is my first post, and I would like to share with you all what I have seen and read on Autospies website. :lildevil:

What car embarrased a BMW M3 on the track?
7/15/2004

I had the chance to attend the Cadillac drive summit (Thanks to a great heads up by one of our readers, Mohammad) and it was cool!

But the best part was the showdown between the Cadillac CTS-V and the BMW M3.

They took both cars and challenged them to a test.

Who could go from 0-100MPH and back to 0 the fastest?

The drivers were not able to start hitting the brakes UNTIL their car hit 100MPH.

They then further handicapped the CTS-V by making it go through a six cone obstacle test whill the M3 was allowed to go straight ahead as fast as it could.

Guess what happened?

I thought for sure it would be super close because the Caddy had to do the obstacle course.

Boy, was I wrong!

It SMOKED the M3!

It was faster to 100MPH AND faster stopping!

The picture you see here shows how much the M3 lost by...

We then had a chance to drive them and we were extremely impressed with the CTS-V. It was faster, larger inside and handled better than any M3 I've driven....for the same price or less depending on what deal you get!

I even like the interior appointments and ergonomics better.

That's high praise because I'm a real import snob.

If you're in the market for a current generation M-series car, you owe it to yourself to test the CTS-V.

I've had this discussion a number of times on BMW boards. Being a former bimmer owner myself I'd have a hard time comparing any CTS to any 3 series. They are just different class of cars, imo

That said, you'd have to be nutso not to seriously consider the V for the sheer power compared to the M3.

To J-W, you certainly are right that the CTS and the 3 series are different classes of car. I'm just not absolutely sure what the connotation is there. My CTS is much larger and more confortable than my 330xi lux/sport. It is way quieter at any speed. The Bimmer has a somewhat tighter feel and accelerates slightly quicker, but my wife and I are super pleased with the CTS. When you factor in the fact that the CTS is $125 less per month to lease, it is no contest. I've loved BMWs for a long time as the first car I ever purchased was a brand new 1973 2002tii and the most recent being a 1997 Z3 2.8 and the 330 xi. My CTS gives up very little.

When was the photo taken during the competiton? If it was taken during the acceleration portion (0 to 100) then the V is ahead. If it was taken during the deceleration portion (100 to 0) then the M3 is ahead. I don't see any cones in the Vs pathway so I assume it's the latter - in which case the M3 won.:hmm:

I cross posted this to bimmerfest. The very same discussion has been brewing. Even filled with physics equations and all. :D Bottom line is... just when/where was the pic taken?
