Depends on the car, engine, year. Northstar or not. Also, if you feel you need to replace the head gaskets, take a look at www.studkit.com. Jake is one of our vendors and studding a block is just as easy as TimeSerts or Norm's Inserts as long as the engine/drivetrain is out of the car (which makes the whole job much easier).

The TimeSert inserts are like installing a Fine thread screw in DRYWALL :yup:

If you only need the inserts they are about 3 bucks a peice. If you need the tool kit to install them its about 450 bucks and you only get 10 inserts (you need 20 to do both heads). Just finished drilling, tapping and "serting" my second engine (in another STS) yesterday. Now I need to button it back up and get it back under the car.

yea i need the whole kit. just sucks that it will get used just fro one engine but i want the job done right. thanks for the info guys.

Since you need to buy the kit anyway, I think Norm's is better than Timeserts, and Jake's stud kit is best of all
