As the title says, I finally got around to installing my new 6.5" Diamond s600s components.
What a freakin difference!
I know it may not be the best place for the tweeters, but I installed them in the stock locations. I used a dremel and modified the stock tweeter holder. Pushed in the new tweeters and I was good to go. At some point in time I will play around with the tweeter location, it was just easy to put them there for the time being.
I figured out how much I needed to modify the 5.25" opening to accept the new 6.5" speaker and used my Makita grinder to do the job. Let me say that this way is extremely fast! THe grinder went through the metal like butter. It was by far the easiest part of the job. That is my tip for enlarging the speaker openings, use the grinder and you wont be sorry! But be very careful so you dont take away too much metal because it goes right through like nothing.
Im using an Orion HCCA 250 amp at the moment for these speakers and they sound awesome! Im hearing things in songs that I never heard before. Im thinking that once I get a different sub and enclosure, Im gonna need to drive the fronts with a few more watts to keep up with the low end.
The biggest pain in the ass was running the new speaker wires into the doors. There is almost no space to work with by the kick panels.
But man, what a difference good set of speakers and a clean amp makes!
Im gonna go for a drive!:coolgleam
