My gut instinct, and general experience says this is a load of total BS but all these listings have thousands of ++++ sooper dooper feedback. Thoughts?

My thought on that is...if they were so great...and you get better mileage, better performance..etc..etc...etc.

Why aren't they already on the cars? :hide: :hide:

They claim...

UP TO 15MPG or more added
- UP TO 45+ FT. LBS. of Torque
- UP TO 45+ Horsepower

GM would pay a LOT of money to increase the mileage and HP on cars to help meet CAFE standards.

But I am not an engineer, so therefore I con not claim any knowledge about them, but...CAVEAT EMPTOR.
I think the key work in their CLAIMS, is UP TO.

Most of them are a bypass for the engine coolant temp sensor that tricks the ecm into thinking the engine is not fully warm and the ecm never goes into "closed loop"...letting the ecm do all the mixture and advance calibrations rather than holding them at a "preset" "open loop" calibration. Running a very cold thermostat has a similar effect. The problem is, although the engine may feel peppier for a time and all that, the ecm will figure it out and set a code and inserting a "default" setting in that spot, negating any benfit. So in a word, no, they don't work. And yes, I have used one on one of my prior vehicles and that's how I came to this conclusion.
