Does anyone have a how-to on making an ashtray gauge pod for one gauge? I searched and saw a couple finished products, but no one said how they made the pod. Does anyone have one they want to sell me:highfive:? Thanks!

I could build you one, but it would be a few weeks before I could even start.

One more semester..my counselor made a mistake on my scheduling and now I'm here for ONE class next semester (didn't offer it over the summer). Not too bad 4 years plus one semester!

That's what I did (i had a full load my last sem though). It was nice to stay for another football season even if we did suck.

Ted,

Mick had a gauge mounted in the ash tray. He may have good input.

I made one once, cut out almost all of the plastic, cut a block of basal wood to fit in the ashtray, use a hole saw for the gauges, then smoother the thing in bondo, sand sand sand, then paint it black. You can see in the bottom right i sanded off too much bondo but was too lazy to fix it. Take your time and you can make it look even better ;)

That was Bobby (cts154), he has a DIY thread around here somewhere. I actually have a couple pillars I bought off ebay and have the glass to do this project. Still deciding on my gauge setup though so I haven't started it.

If you can fit 2-3 gauges in there, I can send you some monies as a deposit to get started on the project -

I appreciate the vote of confidence but I won't be making any for anybody. It just isn't cost effective for the time that is required on 1 piece. To hand craft these things and turn a profit (biggest hurdle is labor time) you would have to charge $300+...

You can make your own though and it really isn't that hard. The biggest hurdle is labor time.

:yeah: the easiest route, other then the ash tray..is a pod on the dash column IMO.. + better visibility.[fact].. finding the OEM pillar fabric is almost impossible i tried for 2 weeks before i changed direction
