Hello, I was wondering if there are any kits out there that allow me to hook up a ipod/mp3 player to my stock bose head unit of my 99 STS? I know I can used the tape or fm transmitter but it doesnt look clean or have as good sound quality.

I have done-it in my car starting with the initial base sound system it came with originally, then I have done-it again in my new BOSE sound system. Watch my posts, see this thread post #20 w/pictures (http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/cadillac-seville-cadillac-eldorado-forum/161811-stock-bose-conversion-2.html)(this is for your car exactly, since now we have the exact same sound system). You get to keep all features you got (including CD Changer), just add one extra.

Isn't the easiest and cleanest way to do this to use one of the add-ons such as Peripheral, Scosche, Metra or others make? Of course, the limitation is that they may or may not retain all of the original functions such a satellite radio. I installed a Peripheral in my son's 1997 SLS, and it's so nice to be able to actually control the iPod from the HU itself........the iPod is seen as the CD changer.

Of course, this won't be there much longer as we are installing a completely new system in the car.

there are like a thousand kits. just google 'cadillac ipod' ipod2car is one such kit, but there are a ton that plug into the cord that goes to your factory cd changer that allows you to control the ipod with both your steering wheel controls and head unit
