Still waiting for the rear diff to arrive and something new happened.
My car jerked like 4 times quickly around 25-20 as i was slowing down.
I've noticed a little bit of it before but not as much as today

I have noticed as the diff whine gets worse I too am experiencing the odd behavior at those speeds. It feels more like the transmission is upshifting from a lower gear.
My rear diff whine is now so loud that you have to really turn up the stereo to not hear it. My goal is to use roadside assitance when the diff locks up, if I took it to my dealer, Crest Cadillac in Plano, they would give me the standard unreproduceable line. A locked diff is easy to reproduce.
If there are any personal injuries involved I still have my unreproduceable service visit ticket to give my lawyer.
In additon I have filed a formal complaint with www.nhtsa.gov so at this point there is not much else I can do.

I have written a couple of posts regarding my 04 CTS and a vibration problem. It is currently in the shop and awaiting some parts, at least one of which is a new differential. What kind of noise did (does) your car make. People in my back seat say that they feel and hear a low frequency noise that is immensely annoying. I'm anxiously awaiting the return of my car to see if these new parts alleviate the problem

It started as a medium frequency whine, now the db has increased to more like a roar. You only hear it after the car is driven for at least 5 miles and it starts around 45+ miles per hour when loading or unloading the drive train.
You will definately be aware of this problem when it occurs, the noise is not not something you have to listen for. It gets progressively louder the longer the problem persists.

Back in the old days the cure was to put sawdust or bananas in with the differential lube. It would quiet it down for a while; long enough to sell.

Yea I remember that, interestingly I drove Ford Mustangs before getting this Cadillac. After three Mustang GTs with hard track miles on each, I had no problems like this.
The 2005 Mustang GT doesn't have the prestige factor of Cadillac, but my Ford experience with dealer service and product quality was better than this.
