View Full Version : New Chevrolet "Classic" ?? Chuck C 07-14-04, 10:38 PM My girlfriend said she spotted a new looking "Chevy Classic"...said it looked like a Malibu but was smaller (she even saw it next to 1998-2003 Malibu). The only thing I can think of is that Chevy still makes the old body style Malibu for car rental fleets and so forth, but if it's smaller, what could it have been?
:hmm: Chuck C 07-14-04, 10:42 PM It must have been a Chevy Classic:

Her depth perception was off Msilva954 07-14-04, 10:49 PM Yea, and they suck too.lol DopeStar 156 07-14-04, 11:35 PM My 99 Malibu has the V6, pretty fast.... I like it fine..... RBraczyk 07-14-04, 11:52 PM I drove one of those malibu classics and they do suck, amen msilva Thanks, Chuck!!!
I have a HUGE collection of car brochures, with heavy emphass on RARE and/or obscure models. I printed that 2004 Chevrolet Classic flyer. Had I ever seen one, too would gone nutty, knowing it to be a 2002 or 2003 MALIBU, and here the thing woulda said CHEVROLET CLASSIC on it. I love the options on it! Four !! (4). Engine Block heater for up north, aluminum wheels for the northeast where they steal all the hubcaps, and ABS brakes.
Translation: Only sold as a 4 Cyl w/Auto and Cloth interior. I wonder how many of these will be built?? Msilva954 07-15-04, 03:49 PM The seats have no support whats so ever.......I find that they put no cussion in their seats either...and the rental companies have the nerve to call it intermidate....in the same class as the Regal....huh.. Chuck C 07-15-04, 05:13 PM Sandy, I'm wondering if the Classic is going to be profitable since it sells for the same msrp as a base 2004 Malibu. I'm sure production costs are lower due to the established factory and workers, but still, if I were an institution in need of a fleet, I'd spring for 04 Malibus over the 04 Classic Msilva954 07-15-04, 06:35 PM One reason they kept it around was so that the New Malibu didnt get the "POS Fleet" mantra.......also there is no longer any advertisment or any things like that....so Id imagine the Classic gets pure profit.......the machinery is paid off. It's a kool piece of automotive trivia !! I'll be lOOOking for one & If I see one, I'll post here. Stoneage_Caddy 07-15-04, 07:41 PM There was 3 of them at the dealer we bought the MAXX from , they wanted waay to much for what that thing is (24k)
These claimed to have a V6 and for sure had moonroof , even though it said "classic" on the back , i talked to the salesman about them cuz i couldnt belive they were allowed to have "classics" on the lot and not hidden so just fleet buyers can see them. Instaed of awnsering the question he tried to get me to buy one Msilva954 07-15-04, 08:28 PM When the reg malibu was out...they would go for like $7,000 here...haha...24k HAHAH. Stoneage_Caddy 07-15-04, 08:35 PM ou think thats rich you should see what there trying to sling cavaliers with steel wheels for ....19k Wait a moment! My next-door-neighbor bought a new 2003 Malibu LS with every option, moonroof, spoiler, leather, pwr. seats & locks, CD/Cassette/RDS Digital stereo, mats, cast alum. rims, light & convenience groups and much more. He paid $25,800 for it with a MSRP of $27,100.
"Sling Cavaliers" THAT's funny :) Stoneage_Caddy 07-15-04, 10:58 PM we got the MAXX for 21 with a msrp of 27 , every option outside onstar and the DVD unit in the back ...gotta love GMS , to bad i cant get that
best part is seeing it on TV , the MAXX in every chevy ad looks exactly like ours
Slinging cavaliers is the only way dealers can get them off the lot outside a catapult , it has to be the most "stale" ball of garbage on the lot , ive been in 10 year old metros that felt more expensive . The little tykes Cozy Coupe was redesinged more ofter over its 20+ years of production . Cozy Coupe rides better than the Cavalier, too ;) The Chevy Classic is targetted at fleet customers. Early on, they (late 90s Malibus) had problems with excessive brake wear. But since that issue has been resolved, reliability is fine. I bet fleet customers get a nice GM volume discount too.
-Jesda Chuck C 07-18-04, 05:29 PM Just saw in the newspaper a hi-pressure, mass dealer with new 04 Classics for under $12,000! that's 6,500 off msrp...what desperation! Are you 100% positive that they are BRAND NEW, never used, under 49 mikes ?? !! Chuck C 07-18-04, 06:31 PM Are you 100% positive that they are BRAND NEW, never used, under 49 mikes ?? !!
You know what...it said "47 just purchased"...so lord only knows how many miles are on em. My guess is that they are just coming off one year lease and have 15,000 to 30,000 on them .... | |
