I have an 03 Ext and when i haved the a/c on i hear a loud thump everytime the compressor goes on and off. This only happens when the car is not moving and the thump is really loud. It almost sounds like someone just kicked the door or something. I know its normal for the a/c compressor to go on and off, but the thump is pretty loud. Has anyone had this problem or noise?

No thump on mine at all, you can not hear the compressor come on untill you have the hood open on mine.

no problems on mine. don't hear anything in the truck.

I get a thump noise too when i turn my car off..It sounds like someone kicking in the door...I took it into the dealership and it has to do with the exhaust or the converter cooling...But its common in alot of Escalades and nothing to worry about

I get the exhaust thump/ping as well on my 2000. It's normal as the metal contracts while cooling. The A/C should get looked at though, might nee a clutch?
