There is another change today on the CTS-V for 2010. There will be now Rainsense wipers on CTS, wagon, and CTS-V models.

The only model for 2010 to keep the headlight washers will be the 2010 CTS-V.

If you want the rain sense wipers buy a 2009..

If you need a vehicle. please give me a call.

I love the Rainsense wiper system... especially in the Northwest. I had it on my '02 Envoy and really liked it and missed it on my '05 CTS-V. Glad it's on my '09!

Darn, I guess I'll just have to keep turning them on manually like I have for the last 35 years.:bigroll:

Was the rainsense wiper standard on the 2009? Is this message stating that it is not offered, or that it is not standard?
I absolutely hate windshield wipers and have driven daily the last three years without any wipers on my vehicle. I apply rain x at every wash and I have never had a need to use windshield wipers. 36,000 miles later in Ohio weather and no issues.

You can still turn on the Rainsense wipers manually but you can adjust how sensitive the sensor is to the amount of rain on the windshield so that they run intermittently according to the frequency of the rain. ie. more rain -> more frequent wiper action, less rain -> less frequent wiper action, no rain -> they stop etc. You set the sensitivity once and forget.. it does the rest.
Normal intermittent wipers will only give you a set delay time no matter the frequency of rain hitting the windshield.

So they've increased the price and cut an option. I'm really suprised they'll be taking gms pricing.

No rain sensing wipers? What will we do? What WILL we do? That is a freakin' deal breaker right there. Wait a minute.......wipers, wipers? I thought you said no suedey bits. Phew, that was close.

Huh? Who told you that? It appears that most people don't really care anyway, but Rainsense wipers and headlight washers are still standard equipment on the 2010 V, and the washers are still part of the 1SF and 1SH package on the V6 sedan and wagon.

We got a memo from Brent Stong on Thursday.

Why do people around here (never mind those that work for a Cadillac dealer) keep saying that Rainsense is going away? If cars as common as a Mazda 3 offer rain sensing wipers as an option, what reason would Cadillac have to stop offering it?

Cadillac Tony

I saw that memo, but disregarded it when I checked the ordering guide and it still shows them. If they are going to drop them, I can't think of a good reason why.

The only issue i could have imagined that happend was that the supplier of the part either went broke or something fell through.

So, if rainsense wipers stay as a standard feature, is there a way to disable them? I absolutely hate windshield wipers and will never use them. I would rather leave the wiper arms in place, but if I cannot disable the rainsense wipers, I will have to yank the wiper arms off the car.

^Just don't turn the wipers on. Rainsense only works in intermittent mode.

Rain x works excellent. I put it on at each washing and that takes care of everything. Snow is not an issue either.

Uh, great. So now cars with the rain sense wipers can no longer be repaired or replaced :helpless:

I hate my rainsense wipers on my 300C. No matter how much you adjust the sensitivity, it is never right, so I end up adjusting more than I would with regular wipers. Plus, when the sun is low in the sky, they randomly come on as you go thru a turn and the sun sweeps across the windshield.

The rainsense wipers sucked anyway...

I would like to see the park tilt mirror option again.

I don't mind Rainsense so much, but the park tilt mirror...I still can't believe enough people found that confusing that it had to be removed. WTF? I'd love to have it back, too.

I guess the same could be said about any part that is/was being made by any supplier that goes under.

What a great car it must be if all we can find to complain about are mirrors and wipers! Mine should be in in about
2 weeks. Can't wait!

Wow. Imagine what would happen if a windshield wiper salesman showed up at the door: "No! Please, not with a 9-iron. I never thought it would end this way!"

Did anyone ever see the movie "High Anxiety" (I was probably not even born when it came out). All I can remember is some guy getting seriously bent out of shape about a "cleaning woman." Maybe "windshield wipers" could elicit a similar response ...

:duck:Sorry, just a joke. Really, I just got back from spending 3 hours at a little kid's birthday party, so I'm still a bit blitzed mentally:bonkers: (and I did use Rain-X on vacation once and it was pretty impressive).

Haven't used wipers in 25 years. Only Rain-X. I hate that back-and-forth mechanism, it's hypnotic.

suprisingly i didnt know but there are alot of people that reallllly can't stand wipers and would practically almost drive blind in the rain than use them. Odd.

I also have been using Rain X for years. No need for wipers, and you
don't drive blind at all. In fact, just the opposite! Try it!

Indeed--when's the last time you've seen wipers used on modern aircraft? That rainbow-like film is the mother of Rain-X.

I tried Rain-X on my motorcycle windshield because motorcycles don't have wipers. It did not help much and kept washing off. I have Rainsense on my 2009 CTS-V and I like it very much.

I, for one, actually like the Rainsense wipers. The rain where I live tends to vary in intensity from second to second, and the wipers do a pretty good job of keeping up with the changes, though the ones on my V don't seem to be quite as good as the wipers on my '08 CTS. Perhaps the spoilers on the wipers on the V affect the sensors readings? In any event, I don't leave them on, because I think the single wipe feature is more effective in the very light mist we sometimes get. Also, the wipers don't start up reliably in rainsense mode after a rainfall, but they work great when you turn them on fresh.

I, for one, love the wiper system. After reading the the manual, I found out much about the system and how it works.
I wait till it starts to rain then I turn on system, and the wipers work great. Never a problem.

rain x works! much better than wipers. i also notice that i don't see the "ghost pattern" of the windshield wiper trail etched in the glass; just clean, clear glass like it arrived from the factory

Is there some sort of forum consensus on this? I'd be interested in hearing how useful they are. I've heard both good and bad. I'd prefer to NOT have them at all...give me gold ol' fashioned manual wipers with intermittent control any day. Unless that is, that the rainsense wipers on the V work consistently well, then I might enjoy them. My Jaguar has rainsense and they are worthless - sometimes downright dangerous.

How does Rain-X handle spray kicked up from tires in front of you? That is no longer just water but a bunch of road junk and oil. Don't you need the wipers then?

I think I found the answer to my own question on the Rain-X site (http://www.rainx.com/Products/Windshield_Treatment/Original.aspx). A picture shows what a "treated" vs. "untreated" windshield looks like. http://www.rainx.com/images/original_circle.jpg
Looks to me like wipers are still needed.

TonyRainSense worked fine for me earlier this year during the rainy season. I often forgot it was on after parking and returning to the car later when it wasn't raining--not one false trigger or even one of those "occasional wipes" mentioned in the manual.

So what is the chances that my loaded 2009 FE3 that I ordered March 15 and is still not built will have the Rainsense and headlight washers on it? In fact, what are the odds that I am ever going to see it at all? My order number is NHZB69 if anyone can get me a status.
Thanks, Brian.
