Hi All,

Just bought a 91 Brougham with the factory wire rims. I'm not huge on them and I'm thinking of switching them out with my 92's stock wheels & hubcaps.

What do you all think? I'm wondering if I'm not liking the rims because the car I bought doesn't have whitewalls....it looks wierd to me. If any of you have a pick of a maroon Brougham with wire rims and whitewalls, post it!

Most of us around here love the 80-92s with factory wires and whites. I think you should put the whites on the wires and put them on the new car.

Not a maroon car, but you get the idea. I love the wire wheels myself, they kind of take the car to that next level.

I'm one of the people who like the wire hubcaps just as much as the real ones, so I think it looks fine with those. But since you have the elusive & coveted wires, put the whites on and flaunt it! It'll look classy, trust me. Or, after that, if you still like the hubcaps better, you can always sell the wires for a *nice* price on ebay.

I'll take 'em. Hahaha. I guess get a piece of white tire chalk and draw whitewalls on the tires and maybe cross your eyes a bit and see if you like the look? I dont like them on the 90-92 looking cars but that's just me......

Really though, send 'em here if ya don't want 'em. Haha...

I kinda partial to hubcaps. I like the ability to change my car's appearance at a whim, and the wheel/tire set up is a big part of that. And I know how hard the wire wheel hubcaps were to clean, and they were removable, so maintaining wire rims... :bighead:

I got these from a 1976 Seville.

Keep the factory wires. Get some white walls and they will look 10x better. Mine has the basic steel caps but with my color combo they look good. Here is a picture I took today after much detailing and cleaning.

I'd keep the wire rims & add whitewalls ... just my opinion, but that would "go the best" with a maroon (and chrome trim) exterior. OK, I'll shut up now.:thepan:

Does anyone know if the original rims were made by Dayton? I'm trying to find a replacement rim cap, as one is missing. Not having much luck.

They were not made by Dayton. Maybe Superior? Mine have a stamp on the back, but I can't remember what it says. Original caps are long discontinued, but come up from time to time on ebay. Repros are now being done, and you can find them all the time on ebay. Type in "Cadillac wire cap" and you should find a set of four for 160...

Hobbycar.com (http://www.hobbycar.com/1977Cadillac.html) sells replica wire rims, and they have the center caps for those rims, listed separately. They might sell you just one (for $55), but the set of four (for $200) might be better because the emblem doesn't have the wreath around the crest.

Keep the wire wheels but get whitewalls. They look terrible without them. If I was going to go hubcaps Id get the plain tin ones like some of those pictures have I hate the fake wire ones.

Oh, I completely forgot about my '88. I have Goodyear Assurance tires on there which, unfortunately, are not available with white walls, so it looks rather dumb, but I wanted ride comfort over looks.

I like the wire caps. The Wire wheels look nice, but there is something about the wire caps that adds just a touch of class. Even with the white walls I think the wire wheels lend a sportier look. But either way I think you need the white walls.

I say white walls and keep em. They look retarded with out them. Any one of these cars looks horrible without them. Then you get the people that put raised white letter tires on.... Thats a whole-nother story... Ughhh

Here is a Burgandy one with em.

LOL, I'd never think to describe a Brougham as "sporty" even with the wire rims. I do agree that it totally changes the look...kind of makes it look more aggressive.

I think I've decided that I'm going to just part my 92 out and keep both sets of wheels....that way I can change it up if I want to.

I don't think I can sell my 92 for anywhere near what I'd like for it. I'm of the mindset that I want to keep my 91 for years to come, so I may as well stockpile the parts off the 92 in case I need them.
