I love my 2003 automatic CTS. Li'l Red Rocket has only 11,000 miles and is having transmission troubles. I complained back when I took it in for 7,000 mile service, and they basically told me I was a crazy woman. Now, 4,000 miles later, the car started doing one of two things when you shift into reverse from park. It either stalls, which can be immediately or after backing up 150 ft down a driveway. Or, it accelerates when you shift from park to reverse even if you do not have your foot on the accelerator.

The dealership now agrees something is wrong, and my car had to be pushed into the transmission specialist they sent it to, since they could not get the car to go into gear. Cadillac is insisting that they take apart the transmission to see what's wrong (and I've been without my baby for a week and do not love the Deville I've got as a comp rental.) Has anyone out there had the same trouble? What they did for you? My dealership claims this is the first car they've seen with the problem, but I think they had another CTS with a transmission problem that got a brand new transmission.

Other than this problem, I absolutely love my CTS. It is so much fun to drive, and handles incredibly. Thanks in advance.

I just got mine back after 5 weeks. Caddillac replaced the tranny for no cost and my car has 58K on it. It may take awhile as one of the tranny parts is on "back order". But my car did not have the same symptoms, more of a rattle in fifth gear. I too have complained to 3 different dealers about this since I got the car 2 years ago - from about mile 6000. But one did listen and stepped up and rebuilt the whole thing. It took awile but it didn't cost me much.

It runs so nice now!!

As of today, Cadillac has agreed to install a brand new transmission in my car. Now they just have to find one, and we'll see how long that takes.

For anyone out there having troubles, call the Cadillac customer service number (an 800 number), and you will get immediate action. The service department at the dealership has been great but had their hands tied by Cadillac. The dealership gave me the 800 number, and said it might make a difference to speed up the process if I complained to the customer center. It did. After only one phone call (about 25 minutes long) with a rep, today I got a phone call from the service department thanking me for making that call and telling me that it made the difference. Cadillac has agreed not to try and take the transmission apart, but to install a brand new one, saving lots of time and aggravation for all.

Further update-less than 72 hours after my call to Cadillac customer cares, they overnighted a new transmission, it's installed, and I'm back driving my CTS. So far, no problems, and I'm really pleased with how fast they resolved the issue. Right now, I am a very satisifed CTS owner who's thrilled to have my Li'l Red Rocket back to drive for the weekend!
